Chapter 31 : Blackout

*Tom's POV*

"Ioki, in my office now" yelled the captain, making the chapel fall into a dead silence. He seemed in a hurry and not so good. I saw Ioki walk fast past my desk. Anyway, if he is like this, it must have a problem with a case, after all. I shrugged and focused back on my work. "Hey Hanson, can I take a look at your report, I feel like I'm missing something" Asked Doug, embarrassed. "Really, Doug?" I asked looking up to him with a sigh. "Yeah, wanna be sure" He asked, resting his hands on his hips. "How can you think you're missing something? You checked my report 4 times already" I said skeptically, he looked at me with pity in his eyes. "Fine, but not more than 5 minutes, I'm not finished yet" I said, handing him the paper with a sigh. "Thank you Tommy" he said goofily and walked away.

"Hanson, Kris is at the hospital, We're going to check on her with the captain" said Ioki. "Wait, I'm coming with you" I said, getting up. "You better not Hanson, trust me, you should go after your shift" he said with a sigh. "Why?" I said, looking at him tensely. "Because, you'll get angry and you might do something that will cause you a few days of suspension" he explained. "Then tell me what happened" I asked, worriedly, slowly sitting back on my chair. "She fainted during an exercise, she apparently skipped lunch, and had too much sport since all of her muscles were pretty tense and sore" he said with a sorry expression. "Are you sure I really can't come right now ?" I asked, as I felt anger rising inside of me. "Ioki!" Called Fuller. "I'm sorry Hanson" he said, then walked away with the Captain. I sat down with a sigh and punched my desk.

"Here your report, what's up?" Penhall asked with concern, sitting on my desk, facing me. "Oh well Kris is at the hospital, Fuller and Ioki said that I shouldn't go now to see her" I said Ironically, resting my legs on the desk."She is-" he started loudly, but I cutted him off. "Yes, but shut it will you, the whole chapel doesn't need to know" I said coldly, staring at him. "But it's my fiancée I need to go there , and be there for her, I finished what I had to do anyway" I said, getting up. "Hanson, wait a second, will you? If Fuller said you can't go now, there must be a good reason" Said Doug, putting a hand on my chest to stop me. "Well maybe, but she's in a f*cking hospital" I said bluntly. "Can you put my report on Fuller's desk with yours please?" I asked on a calmer tone, putting on my brown leather jack and grabbing my car keys. "Okay" he said with a sigh. I nodded at him as thanks and walked to my car.

"Hi, I'm here to see Miss Stevenson" I said, resting my elbow on the counter. "Are you a member of her family?" Asked the receptionist all dressed in white, probably in his 40's, looking above his thick glasses. "Yes, I'm her fiancé" I answered. "Fair enough, she is in room 215, three police officers are already in there" he said. "Yes I know, thank you Sir" I said, then I headed to her room. I hid in the recess, close to her room, to not get caught by Ioki and Captain Fuller.

A few minutes later, The commandant Hetcher, went out of the room, and made his way to the corridor. Carefully, I followed him and waited to be close enough. "Commandant Hetcher" I greeted with a false smile. "Officer Hanson, long time no see, what are you doing here?" he asked with a smile, as nothing happened. Anger rose even more inside of me. "Oh you know, checking on my fiancé, I heard she fainted" I said sarcastically, moving back and forth on my feet. "Oh I see" he nodded. "Say Commandant, you were with her when it happened right?" I asked, looking at him right in the eyes. "I was indeed" he answered. "Can you tell me exactly what happened ?" I asked, sucking on my lower lip.

"Well She had sports this morning, she skipped lunch which resulted in her fainting during the exercise" He explained simply. "Aaah, I see, and how did that happen that she skipped lunch? she never misses any meal, unless you didn't let her" I asked, walking up to him with determination. He backed off to every step I was going towards him, until his back hitted the wall. "Oh come on Officer Hanson, delinquents don't wait for us to eat to run away" he said with a chuckle. "Maybe, but at the academy they do, this is harrasement, Commandant" I said, grabbing him by the collar. "Harassment, I'm just treating her like the screw up that she is, from the moment I saw her I knew she was, just like her dad" He said acting innocently. I rose my fist ready to hit him, when I got interrupted by Captain Fuller. "Hanson!" He called , then Ioki came to separate me from the Commandant. "You're lucky" I told him, coldly.
