After an intense day at work, between getting all Michael's paper and helping him packing up plus some other duties, I went to buy some hot dogs for dinner and drove off to Tom's apartment. I dropped my jacket and purse then made the hot dogs, I skipped breakfast and lunch so I was starving as hell.

After eating I made some clean up, since Tom was working a lot, house chores weren't a priority for him, but it wasn't that messy and dirty for a guy that lived alone. So I thought it could help him a little. I went to take a shower and put on my nightgown and Tom's black and red checkered bathrobe. I layed on the bed and started reading 'Black cherry blues' by Dave Robicheaux.

An hour or two maybe later, I heard Tom coming back home. I heard him open a beer can and the sound of a lighter. I came out from the room and saw him sitting on the couch. His beer in a hand and a cigarette in the other. He was a little pale, his hair falling in front if his eyes, with a poker face on. I quietly sat next to him, indian style. "You want to talk?" I asked softly, removing his hair from his face and put the strand behind his ear. He looked up to me, his expression was closed and in his eyes you could read blank, shock. He shook his head 'no' slowly. He carried on to consuming his cigarette, inhaling the smoke and exhaled slowly, ashes falling on the floor.

"It's not right" he spoke a moment later. "What is not right Tom?" I asked softly, looking at him, who was still staring at the floor. "This kid Danny, he only dealt crack and now he's been executed because of his friend" he explained with a deep sigh. I didn't speak, waiting for him to continue if he wanted to. As an 'It's okay go ahead' sign I rested my hand on his lap. "He asked me to be there when it'll all be his time because, even though I busted him two years ago, he still trusted me, so I went. He was scared but then he was gone" he explained, finishing his beer can and sat it on the floor, then put the cigarette filter in it. He got up walking around, sighing. "It's not your fault Tom" I said, looking at him closely. "I know..." he said, running his hands through his hair, sitting back on the couch. I gently stroke his back and put my head against his shoulder. "Thanks" he said softly. "For what?" I asked, looking at him, my hand still roaming in his back gently. "For lisening to me" he said, resting a hand on my knee. "Anytime" I said with a smile and planted a delicate kiss on his cheek, making his lips forming in a small smile. We stayed like this for a moment, quietly, the silence was comfortable and warm.

A knock echoed through the room, breaking the silent atmosphere. "I'll get it" I said, getting up, closing the bathrobe. I walked to the door and slowly opened it. "Captain Fuller, good evening" I said kindly with a smile. "Good evening, uh Kris right?" he asked unsure. "Right" I said with a chickle, surprised that he actually remembered. "How is he?" He asked with concern. "He've been better, come on in" I said with a small smile, stepping aside to let him walk in. "You guys want something to drink?" I asked from the kitchen. "No thank you I'm good, I won't stay long" answered kindly the captain. "A coffee for me please Kris" said Tom. I poured a coffee in Tom's cup and brought it to him.

"I'll be in your room if you need me" I said, excusing myself to leave both of them talk, I didn't want to bother them. "Stay if you want" he said, catching my hand. "Are you sure ?" I asked looking at him, then to Captain Fuller who nodded, standing in front of Tom with a concerned expression on his face and his large hands resting on his hips. I nodded then sat next to Tom. "Don't blame yourself Hanson, you did what a good cop is supposed to do, you did your best" he said with a sigh. "The court have been unfair with Danny, I mean there are people that have done worse and they get to stay in prison for years" he said, looking at his mentor, pissed off. "I know Hanson, it pisses me off too. But sadly we can't do anything against the court's decision" he said calmly. Tom just sighed not responding.

"Anyway, I've got news on the assignment you're on with Ioki, I'll explain better in detail tomorrow, take care Hanson" He said, making a knot with his khaki long trench coat belt. "Oki doki, I'll walk you to the door Captain" Said Tom getting up. They walked and before got away, Captain Fuller turned to Tom. "You know Hanson, I'm just saying that as a friend, it's a good girlfriend you have here" he said simply then walked away. "Danm with all of this it's 5 o'clock" he said looking at me with guilt in his expression. "Why don't you rest for an hour or two Tom?" I asked getting closer to him and pulled him in a hug. "I'm not tired" he said, wrapping his arms around my waist. "Neither am I" I said with a sigh.

Suddenly, I looked up to him "Have you eaten?" I asked worriedly. "No" he said, looking away. "I can make hot dogs if you want" I said with a smirk. He looked at me like a kid "Really?" he said surprised, making me chuckle. "Yeah really, come on" I said pulling him by the hand to the kitchen. He sat on the booth next to the sink as I took three hot dogs from the fridge and put them in the microwave. I got in between his legs and smiled at him putting my hands on his shoulders. "Do you feel a little better?" I asked. "Yes" he said reassuringly, taking my face between his hands and kissed my lips sweetly. The microwave rang the end, I took a knife and fork then placed his plate on the table with a cup of coffee. "Thanks, you're the best" he said, looking at me deeply in the eyes.

The phone rang, so I immediately picked up. "Hello?" I asked. "Kris it's George, I've got a big flue that I can't even get up from my bed, I'm so sorry I cannot come, the doctor said I've got for at least three days before recovering completely, but I'm reachable on the phone" he explained on a low and pained voice. "Aw poor dear, it's okay I'll handle the ranch, have a good rest, and promise I'll call if I need, thank you George" I said with concern. "I'll see you later Kris" he said and coughed harshly. "Oh sure, get some rest George" I said kindly and put the phone back to it's place.

"Is everything okay?" asked Tom with a bit of ketchup on the corner of his lips making me laugh. "What?" he asked with a frown. I got closer and licked the ketchup stains, slowly. "Oh, I got it" He said but it came out as an uncontrolled groan. "I'll have a good reason to be late for work" he said, pulling me to sit on him, facing him and he started kissing my neck. "No no no, I can't" I said, gipping his hair. "Why ? you don't seem to dislike it" he said with a smirk, stroking my chest. "I don't, but George is sick, I have to replace him for a couple of days, and you know how busy he is, combined with my work" I said, acting sad. "Oki doki, let's save that for later then" he said disappointed. "Sure" I said with a smirk and bit his neck a little and then to prepare in the bathroom as nothing happenend. "That's Illegal Kris" I heard him shout from the living room. "I love you too babe" I shouted back.

"Hi Kris, you need to go to your office, Michael is on the phone and extremely angry" said Sasha all freaked out, pulling me in my office. "Thank you Sacha" I said confused and sat on my desk, what a start of the day.
