"If we just take the lead stallion then the herd will follow." Ryan said as he made me pace behind him
"Yeah" Sage quivered, her body shivering.
"Hey? You cold?" He merged his horse forward with his reins and took his dark blue dressage coat off and put it over her, kissing her cheek.
Sage smiled and carried on with her horse, I tugged at the rope. My herd still following,
"What should we call the dapple?" Matt spoke trying to keep the conversation up.
"How about..... Rise and shine for her show name and Silver for her stable name?" Sage spoke
"Sounds good." He clicked his tongue as his horse went into a trot.
Wait.... They were just going to use the 'pretty' horses? So they weren't going to use me as a show horse?!? I mean... Not that I want to... We finally reached a large, actually two huge cottages planted at least 30 feet apart. And then.... The stables... They were huge!!! They were only filled with about four horses, and it looked like it could fit fifty! Ryan led me in with a clucking noise,
"Hey can you go and get a bunch of halters matt? We're gonna need them" he yelled spooking me as he led me into a large stable with food at the source, the water was still.... De-thawing...
Sage walked in a fast, but settle pace, grabbing three halters and finding the herd right by my stall, she walked closely by them,
"Firefly. I want you to stay calm, kepp the herd okay, this might be a start to a new life..." I nickered
Sage put a bright red halter on trooper, and a light cream halter on cloud, and then a lime green halter on firefly, and of course, firefly had got scared and bucked and whinnied... I whinnied flaring my nostrils and walking back...
"Woah!!" Sage lay on the floor crouching with her arms out.
Ryan had came running then into a walking pace to not spook the already spooked horses.
"Sage?!? Are you okay?!?" He screeched.
"Yeah. Fine just a little dust and thats all." She looked behind her back dusting of the little dust there was.
"Okay. But be careful... I'll take this dude." Sage nodded and just walked back to the already-haltered horses.
He grabbed firefly's halter and put him in the stall next to me.
"Seriously. Dude, calm yourself." I spat at firefly
"I don't like these people! I feel like they're gonna bring in the whips any minute!!!" He whinnied lightly
I shook my head and continued to eat my mix of, actually, delicious foods.
"Hey? Who are you?" The horse in the stall across from me hoofed the ground
"Oh... I'm tango and this is firefly..." I snorted
" oh. Nice to meet you. I'm bad medicine. At least that's my show name. I'm barn name is Oreo."
He was a black spotted quarter horse, and rode at RHEA, Red Hills Equestrian Academy.
***next day***
A group of teenage, and some adult riders came into the middle of the stables, I was at the end so I couldn't see much,
"Okay, lady's today as you have heard, today is the Horse Challenge! I know... It sounds cheesy, but. You will be each getting one horse, and qoute un qoute, taming them."
Oh god... What the hell... I muttered. Is this really going to be my new life? A 'tamed horse?
"Jamie. You will get the mare to the left of the black horse," the trainer explained
