Clara's POV

I couldn't believe what he said. He's letting me go just like that? I thought I would have to do more than refusing to marry him. Is he really that in pain that I don't want to marry him? He doesn't want to see me anymore. Just looking at me reminds him that I don't want to marry him?

"What?" I questioned him?
"I'm done with you. You may leave. Your brother can leave if he wants."

I paused for a moment, "Is this because I don't want to marry you?"
He took another sip of his alcohol, he avoided eye contact, "No. I'm done with a woman like you."
"Like me?"
"Yes like you. You refuse to love me, marry me... have my children."

I was taken back with what he said. We never spoke about having children. Maybe that's why he wanted someone young. To have his children.

Yes, I always wanted children, but I wanted to be married first. Coming here, I stopped dreaming about marrying someone and having children. I never, never thought about having children with him. With King Leo, he's a king. Every time, we did have sex, he didn't pull out. He pushed his seed far into me. As much as he could, multiple times. Almost every night.

"I want you to pack your bags and leave tomorrow. I don't want to see you again."

I looked up at him. With tears falling down my cheeks. If he wants me to leave, I will leave this place and his kingdom.

If my brother wants to come with me, he can. I will leave this place. Now, this is my chance to travel, to see the world. To forget about King Leo and his kingdom. Even if I am not a virgin anymore, I can marry someone else.

"Fine!"

I crossed my arms and turned around, then I walked away. It did hurt me to leave, to be leaving like this. Just when I started to have feelings for him. Now that I'm leaving, I won't let him know that. That will be my secret. My secret that I do have feelings for him.

***

The next morning, one of the maids helped me pack up all my belongings. Most of the things that King Leo gave me, I'm not taking with me. I don't want to carry a lot of things. Another maid came in and gave me some money from the King. The money will help me get out of his kingdom.

With one big suitcase with all of my things in. A farmer came into my room, "I'm here to take your bags, Miss."
I nodded, "Okay, I'll be ready to go in a minute. Is my brother came down yet,"
"No miss."
"Let me go find him."

I walked through the hallway and I finally reached my brother's room. I looked around he's not in the room. Maybe he's saying goodbye to the horse that he's been taking care of.

I walked downstairs and through the back hallways. I finally reached the barn where the horses are. In the back hallways I was able to avoid King Leo. I don't want to accidentally bump into him today.

I walked into the barn. I saw Oliver brushing one of the horses. He does look happy with the horses.

"Oliver it's time to go."
"Clara, I'm not going. Someone told me this morning, that we will be leaving."

He stopped brushing the horses then he turned around to face me, "I'm sorry. I have a chance to become a knight. A real knight."

At that moment, I could see his excitement. That's what he's been wanting to do since he was a little child. I can't stop him from becoming someone he wants to. I know he can become a famous knight one day.

"Okay."
"Okay?"
"Yes, you are old enough to take care of yourself now. You don't need me anymore."

He smiled. He never really smiles with his teeth. Normally, you can get him to give you a half smile, never with his teeth.

I smiled with happy tears in my eyes, "You take care of yourself now. I have to be going. I'll write to you."
"Please write to me."
"I will promise."

I gave him a tight squeeze hug to last him till the next time I see him. I don't know how long that will be. He let go then I let go. I turned around to go back inside.

"Clara?"
I turned around, "Yes?"
"I've known what's been going on with you and the King." Rubbing the back of his head nervously.
"Really?"
"Yes, everyone in the kingdom does... I want to let you know that I still love you. I know you know what you are doing."

He half smiled, then I smiled at him. I turned around and walked through the castle to get to the front of the building to leave. As I walked through the front wooden doors to the castle, I felt someone watching me. I quickly turned around and I saw no one. I turned and walked to the farmer with my bag in his small wooden carriage being pulled by a small horse.

As we rode on the small carriage out of the castle grounds, I could still feel someone watching me. I looked back at the castle. The castle getting smaller and smaller as we go forward. I can see people, but it's hard to make out who is who. I turned around and took a deep breath then smiled. Finally, I can leave this place.
