Assassination

Clara's POV

         I walked over to him and sat down next to him on a small wooden stool. Then I put the cold rag on his forehead. His forehead is cold and sweaty. His eyes flickered.

"I'm here."

          I said in a low voice. I didn't want to shock him. His eyes just flickered and he moaned in pain.

"Why did you do this to yourself, Leo? How can you be so stupid?"

His face scrunched up, then he opened his eyes slowly, "You shouldn't be here."
"I am here, and I'm not going anywhere."

"If I order you?"
I took a deep breath, "I would still stay."

"Please go away." Trying to move on the bed, moaned in pain, "Mind stop letting me see her, and please just let me die."

I cupped my hand with his face, having him look at me, "I'm here, Leo. I'm right here."
His eyes flickered, "You can't be here. She wouldn't come back. I sent her away."

"If I wasn't here. Could I do this?" I kissed his cheek.
He paused, then looked at him and held my hand cupping his face, "You are here."
I smiled, "Yes."
"Why?"

           I removed my hand. He had a confused look on his face. He couldn't understand why I'm back here. I can't tell him right now about the baby. He's too sick, I'll tell him after he gets better.

"We can talk about it another time." I smiled, "Sleep you need your rest."

        He lightly smirked, almost a smile. Then he fell back to sleep. I made myself comfortable in the small wooden chair.

        Hours passed, and I even fell asleep in the chair. King Leo is still asleep. I can't believe I fell asleep. Normally it takes me a while to go to sleep. My brother was always easy to go to sleep. King Leo needs all the rest he can get, if he's going to get any better.

KNOCK, KNOCK

       The wooden doors opened, the maid from earlier today holding a tray of food. Looks like soup, bread, wine, grapes, and cheese. She walked into the room and then the guards closed the doors behind her.

"Miss, I'm here to bring King Leo his food. I made sure to grab extra for you."
"Thank you, you may go now."

"I'm sorry, Miss... I have to try to feed him, or you have to."
"On whose orders?"
"The head knight, Miss."

I paused and nodded my head, "Okay, bring it over to me. I'll try to feed him."
She brought the food tray next to me, "Maybe, you'll have better luck with feeding him then I had."

"Why do you say that?"
"He's been not wanting to eat or drink anything. Maybe since you are here, he'll want to eat and drink."

"Leo wake up." I shook him a bit, not to hurt him but just to wake him up.
He moaned in pain.
"Please Leo wake up."

         It's been days since I got here to the castle. With me and the maid taking care of him every day. He's slowly getting better. I have to change his bandages multiple times and give him a bath with a rag, feed him, and give him his medicine.

        I've told him that if it gets better, I'll marry him. I'm not sure if he hears me. Or even if he was conscious of knowing what I said or not. I said it and I meant it. If he gets better, I'll marry him. So the baby will have his father in its life.

        I do CARE for him, but I don't know if I actually love him yet. I've never experienced love before, I'm not sure if I love him the way he wants me too. The way that people are supposed to love each other when they get married.

         The maid left the room, and I fell asleep in the small wooden chair. I didn't want to leave Leo's side. Especially if he needed me. After the sun comes up, and the maid comes into the room, I'll take a bath and rest in my room. Right now I want to be with him.

No one's POV

        Looking through the window, I see a woman sleeping in the chair next to the King. She doesn't look like a maid. Too bad, if I have to kill her too I will. I have to complete my mission. The king is weak, he's injured and sick. An easy kill for me.

         I open the window and I sneak inside. Neither the King nor the woman woke up. She moved a little but didn't wake up. I moved closer to the king pulling out my sword. I raised my sword, and the woman turned her head, she opened her eyes and screamed.

        The king moved away from the bed, when he heard her scream. I raised my sword again to stab him. Then the woman went behind me and tried to attack me. The king tried to take the knife away from me while the woman tried to attack me, jumping on my back. I quickly turned around and pushed her off of me.

       She fell to the ground, hard. She started to scream and scream. The king and I both turned around and saw her. Tears coming down her face and blood between her legs.

       The King knew what it meant, so did I. The King yelled for his men to come into the room. Then while I was about to jump out of the window, he grabbed my sword. He stabbed me.

No one's POV

"This man tried to assassinate me, I want his body thrown into the lion's dungeon."

       The knights came in and took the body away. While Clara was on the floor crying and sobbing. The King fell to his knees to comfort her. He put his arms around her and hugged her.

"We were pregnant?"
"The reason why I came back."
