Heartbroken But Not The End

No one's POV

       King Leo held onto Clara close as she sobbed. She knew she lost her baby with all the blood on the floor. There is no way that she would still be pregnant after that.

"Shshhh.."

He said, trying to comfort her.

"I lost it."

       She said wiping away her tears but tears still coming down her face.

"We can still have another one."
"Have another one?"

She questioned him. He had a slight smirk on his face, "I heard what you said, while you were taking care of me. You said you would marry me." He turned her around to face him. "We can have more children now that you agreed to marry me."

"I only said that because I was pregnant... I'm not going to now."

           She didn't know what to think at the moment. All she knew was she lost her baby. The reason why she came back to this place. She was heartbroken and felt lost. How could he think of something like that?

"How can you think of something like that right now?"

He had tears in his eyes, "This isn't the first child that I have lost. My first wife had 2 miscarriages and the last one she died during labor. With every child, I have lost a part of myself, but I know we can have more children."

"No, I take it back, I won't marry you now. Tomorrow I will leave."

King Leo turned around and saw the maid that helped Clara take care of him, "Maid, did you hear Lady Clara ever mention that she will marry me after I get better?"

The maid nervously played with her apron, she looked at her King then at Lady Clara, "Yes, your highness."

The King smirked then turned to face Clara, "You made a promise to the King and another party heard your promise. By law, you have to keep it. You have to marry me."
"What?"
One of the head knights spoke up, "The King spoke the truth. It is law in his kingdom." He turned to the King. "I don't think it's the best time to speak of this."

         The knights left the room, then the King helped Lady Clara up, the King motioned the maid to follow. The maid and the King helped Lady Clara to take a bath. Then after she was done with her bath, the maid and the King helped her to the bed. The maids left the room, they were done cleaning the blood off the floor.

"I need to know for sure."

The King walked away from the bed, then walked over to the wooden doors then opened the door, "Send for the Healer."

        After a few minutes, the healer came into the room with his daughter. His daughter was surprised to see Lady Clara. Since she has been dating Lady's Clara's brother for some time now. He has told her that his sister won't be back for some time.

         Lady Clara and the healer's daughter talked for a few minutes. Then the healer understood why he was there.

"We need to know if she lost the baby." The King spoke up.

          The healer nodded, walking closer to Lady Clara. The healer's daughter held Lady's Clara's hand. The King walked out of the room. Pacing back and forth in the hallway waiting for the answer.

          Lady Clara laying on the bed, she lifted part of her shirt. The healer put something on her stomach that looked like an animal horn then he listened to her stomach very closely.

"Well??"

       The healer shook his head, then he set the horn thing aside in his bag. The healer and his daughter walked out of the room.

The King Immediately stopped pacing, "Is there a child?"

The healer shook his head again.

Author's Note:

I saw all the comments. I'm so happy that everyone wanted Clara to keep the baby, but that's not what I wanted for the characters at the moment. King Leo said something that gives away the ending. We aren't there yet! I'm about 1/3 done writing this story. So, what does that mean???... We have more to the story!
