Lisa
The weekend went over like a blink of an eye. Yet, here I am, staring at my computer while my mind wandered about the conversation I had with Jennie. I looked at the wall clock. It was almost dinner. With a sigh, I got up and called it a day.
I strode into the hallway, but I immediately stopped when I heard Somi's voice echoing from a distance, gazing at my little sister. She looked happy and bubbly, but when her eyes landed on me. It was a brief moment, but a smile flashes on her face before her expression changed; aside from being friends before everything was out in the open, Somi and I does not know each other that well. Yet, here we are now, neither one of us saying a word to each other.
And I can't take it anymore.
I gripped my bags strapped as I marched to Somi. With each step I take, the deep breath I took. Somi tried to walk away when she saw me, but I blocked her way.
"We need to talk," I said, glaring at her until she looked into my eyes. Then she turned her head over my shoulder and smirk.
"Is that so? Too bad, it looks like our father needs to talk to you."
I turned around, and a broad smile from our Dad greeted me as he makes his way to us. He patted my shoulder then greets Somi.
"Oh, this is nice to see. Both my beautiful daughters are catching up again."
"No, we're not, Dad." Somi interrupted.
Our Dad nodded, then turned to me as if he overlooked the annoyance in Somi's voice.
"Lisa, before you go. There are some important documents I want to show you. I need you to study and work on it."
Somi scoffed and rolled her eyes, "Well, I guess I'll see you at home, Dad."
"Okay, sure. Drive safe." Dad said abruptly, then poured his attention back again to me. I watched Somi walking away, and before she turned, I caught a hint of sadness in her eyes.
My father and I went back to his office. Dad continued to discussing different projects. The new theme for a runway, the company will cover the locations and the models. In the back of my mind, I should be enthusiastic about it. But I was not.
I finally understand why Somi cannot accept me as her sister.
"What did Somi say about it?" I said as I turned to my Dad, his forehead creased as he stared at me.
"Huh? What about Somi?"
I shrugged, "I mean, isn't she also your daughter? Doesn't she also have a say on these decisions in the company?"
"Yeah, but she's not interested in this kind of stuff," Dad said, giving a brief laugh. But, I did not give a smile about it. I took stepped back and stared at him.
"Did she said that? Or that's what you think?"
Dad squinted, "Why are you asking these kinds of questions? Did you girls fight again? Did Somi say bad things to you?"
I shake my head, "No, Dad. She didn't because she won't even talk to me like we used to."
My Dad's shoulder dropped.
