Jennie
"Yeah, you're right. I should go with the second draft." Jisoo said, nodding, with her eyes focused on her laptop. But she stopped when a good aroma filled the room. I looked up, and Rosie came out of the kitchen with a smirk on her face.
Rosie clapped her hands, "Okay, children. Dinner is ready!"
Suddenly, the door swung open, and Lisa matched towards Rosie, "Hey, did you take the meat I just bought yesterday?"
"Yeah, I asked Jen--"
"Why didn't you tell me? I was saving it for dinner!"
"I'm sorry. After I went home from the shop, I just found out we ran out of meat. Because unfortunately, someone forgot to go to the market." Rosie turned and gave a haughty stare to Jisoo.
Jisoo choked while slurping on her soup.
Lisa rolled her eyes at Rosie, crossing her arms, "But still, you should have asked me."
"Okay, I'm sorry. But just so you know, I asked Jennie, and she said yes," Rosie said, pointing at me. Lisa was a little reluctant to look at me. She cleared her throat, "Well, okay." she muttered.
Jisoo smiled, and placed an extra plate on the table, "Just nod and eat, Lisa."
Lisa immediately pulled the chair over and helped herself to the food on the table. Rosie shook her head, "Oh, I still have my mom's kimchi? Do you want some?"
"Yes, please!" Jisoo and Lisa said in unison.
"Wow, seriously. Did you guys starve yourself the whole day?" Rosie asked, taking a huge chunk of meat on her plate.
Jisoo took a drink of her milk and breathed, "I only had bread."
"I need to rush some photos, so I forgot to order for lunch," Lisa said.
I subtly stared at Lisa, who indulged in her food. Lisa and Rosie would cover a piece of meat as if there is nothing left on the table. They fought only to end up with Jisoo eating it.
I smiled at them. They looked all prim and proper, like professionals with their businesses and careers. But they are chaotic when they are together.
Rosie cleared her throat, " do you guys have a plan for the weekend?"
Jisoo and Lisa shook their head.
"I'm not sure." I said, "Why?"
"Well, my parents will be home for the weekend, and Alice got a new job at this big firm. So, we had a get-together party. What do you think? C'mon, Jennie, since you became an assistant chef in that three-star restaurant, we never had time to hang out."
Jisoo nodded, and Lisa pulled her hand with a thumbs up.
I swallowed hard the food in my mouth, "But isn't that a little interfering? I mean, it's your family's get-together."
Rosie waved her hand and smiled, "No," she said with her strong Aussie accent, "These two here are like my parents' extended babies. And you, you're like my sister too. I know Alice feels the same thing. We are all like a family."
