In a house with the woods behind it a woman yells for her foster daughter. "Rosa!" Mrs. Cooper yells "Have you gotten the mail?" And from her room, 15 year old Aparosa answers by yelling "I'm going now!" With that she plugs her ear buds in her ipod and walks out her room, down the stairs , and outside. She states her walk down the rode to the mail box with "broken home" by 5sos.
It takes a bit to get to the mailbox. At least 1/4 of a mile. Aparosa never minded once in the year she'd been there. It gave her time to listen to music without interruption. When she was at the home, it was work, work, work, then free time. They had a lot of chores, it wasn't right to have your fosters do most the house work.
As she walked up the hill, she started to think about her parents; how much she missed them. Of course her tendency to over worry took over. She began to wonder what her parents were up to. If her father was still laying in his room instead of getting a job. If her mother was still getting high anyway she could. 'I wonder what toxic boyfriend she's with now' Aparosa thought. It had been 5 years since they were first placed in a foster home. She was Ten.
Her brothers, Elman and Isaac Winfield were 2 and 4 years old. They are now 7 and 9. They were first placed in a home together. It was too hard to handle them all, they were only there for 2 months. Therefore, the boys were sent together to a home in Nevada. Aparosa was sent to a group home with two other girls. She stayed there for a year. She was then sent to a family who, lets say, was very fond of having someone pick up after them. She was there for 6 months before CYS moved her to a different group home. After 1 month, she got fed up of being with out her brothers. She did the only thing she could think of...run. She made it to the bus station where the police picked her up. She was sent back where she stayed for 2 months. Before her uncle offered to take her. That's how she ended up living with her uncle in Northeast Pennsylvania.
She was happiest there. Her uncle took care of her. And she got to go on hikes and watch wild animals. There she met some nice people. She met Tori Shimino and Will Kamatche. These two quickly became her best friends. They did everything together. William lived with his Mother, Father, and Brother. His parents fought quite a lot and having a friend who understood was a blessing. Tori lived with her adoptive mother. Her uncle let her talk to her brothers whenever she pleased. There she stayed for 1 year 1/2...until she was sent back to live with her mother along with her brothers.
Honestly, she was sad to leave. So many promises were broken going back to her mom. Her friends promised to write, they didn't. Her father promised to visit them more, he didn't. Her mother promised to stay away from drugs and bad men, she didn't. Her uncle promised to take them back if things went downhill...he didn't.
She pondered deeper 'would I have been able to stay with my uncle? Could my brothers have come? Would my mom ha- "oof" Aparosa grunted. When lost in thought she had run into the mailbox, her song long over. "Well that's one way to find the mailbox" she muttered. She opened the door to it and grabbed the mail. Deciding to go without music so she could hear the whispers of nature, she started to walk back flicking through the mail. Who knew why she did this. It was completely unlikely for someone to send them anything. But the unexpected does happen. That unexpected came in the form of a letter. That very letter caused Aparosa Kenny Jane Winfield to stop in her tracks. There on the top of the pile was a letter , addressed to her and her brothers. "Its from uncle Joe.." She whispered with a shocked expression. "IT'S FROM UNCLE JOE!!!" the fifteen year old screamed out as she ran back down the old worn dirt rode.
This is the first chapter. Let me know what you think, I appreciate the feed back. I will try to write this story as realistically as possible. If you come across a really weird chapter it's because it was written in the very early am. As someone with insomnia, I have very little to do from 2-4 am. Just let me know if it was too hard to understand and I'll rewrite. Hope you enjoyed and continue!
