Samantha and I start driving back to my house, when I suddenly realize that I have nothing in my fridge other that two-week-old leftovers. I make a quick trip to the market to grab some real food, and head back to my place. We walked in, and the place is trashed.
"I'm sorry, I just never expected to have anyone stay at my house-unless it's a one-night-stand." I said jokingly.
She just looked at me and started laughing. I wasn't sure whether to take it as a 'that was funny' or as an 'are you a slut', but either way, she was happy and safe.
As she was settling into my spare bed, I hear the alarm on my phone, that can only mean it's the caption texting me. I slide my finger to unlock it, and I'm terrified on what he is going to say.
Donald Cragen: Hey Liv. I know you want to get her calm and stuff, but you need to bring her down to the precinct tomorrow morning to take her statement so we can make the arrest. I have contacted Warner to put a rush on the DNA so we can out this guy behind bars asap.
I just sit my head up with stress and know that she isn't going to like this idea. She comes out in the pajamas that I loaned her, since we can't go back to her house, and she is just grinning with joy. I start to make some late-night snacks for her, but when I turned around with the popcorn, she was already back in my room, fast asleep in the spare bed. I walk to the couch to eat the snack, and end up watching infomercials until four in the morning. 'Maybe I should get some sleep' I thought. I get up, go to my bed, and fall fast asleep.
My alarm goes off at 6:45 am to get ready for work. I roll on my side to wake Samantha up to get ready, and she is nowhere to be seen. I sprint out to my kitchen to grab my phone to call someone, when all of a sudden, she's just standing there making us both breakfast. I was so shocked! She had just been raped the night before, and now she's up and ready to take on the day. The kitchen filled with the great smells of bacon, eggs, coffee, and biscuits for the side.
"Wow, this is amazing! Where did you find the time to do this?" I said.
"Well, I woke up at about six this morning, and I saw that your alarm was set for about forty-five minutes later, so I figured since you took me in, the least that I could do was make you breakfast." she replied.
I just looked at her. This girl, that I'm supposed to be helping, is helping me by making breakfast for me. Sam just had the biggest heart that I have ever seen. We both ate our food, and headed down to the office, where I told her that I had to take her statement before I could make the arrest.
We head into the nearest interview room. I got out my pen and pad, and wrote down almost exactly what she told me last night in the hospital. We sat there and were chatting when Amanda comes in, frightened as can be.
"Um, we have a problem," Amanda said, "and he has yelled your name about twenty times in the past thirty seconds. You should probably get out there and solve it."
All I see is this man. He's standing there with what seems to be the drunk pose of " I've had one too many". Samantha turns around, and begins to have a panic attack. It's him. It's her dad.
