Chapter Six: Heart Monitor

Scott and I were getting groceries and trying to find the car. We walk out to level three of the parking garage. But the car was nowhere in site. "Damn it." Scott said and we go to level four. We still couldn't find the car so Scott set the bags that he had down to get the keys out of his pocket. The car goes off above us. Scott noticed that the milk from his bag rolls out.
"Oh, crap." Scott said and we both go after it. It rolls under a car and Scott goes to get it but it rolls back towards us leaking milk from cuts in the bottle. I knew it was Derek beginning his training with Scott because I could smell him. Scott looks up and he grabs my hand causing me to drop the bags and he runs dragging me with him.

We run all the way up to level 3 and hide behind a car. Scott and I both are trying to calm down before Scott gets an idea. "What?" I mouth at him when he looks at me. "On top of cars." He mouths back pointing at the cars. "Let's go." I mouth and he runs jumping on the cars and I follow him causing the alarms to go off. We run and hide behind a car on level 2. Scott's phone starts ringing. "No. No, stop." Scott said trying to get his phone. I hear a thud behind Scott and then I smell Derek so I relax a little bit. Derek grabs Scott and slams him into the car hood. "You're dead." Derek said

We start walking around the parking garage.
"What - what the hell was that?" Scott asked "Said I was gonna teach you. I didn't say when." Derek said "You scared the crap out of me." Scott said "Not yet." Derek said "Okay, but I was fast, right?" Scott asked "Not fast enough." I say "But - but the car alarm thing, that was smart, right?" Scott asked and I scoffed "Till your phone rang." Derek said
"Yeah, but that was - I mean - Would you just stop? Please? What happened the other night, Stiles' dad getting hurt, that was my fault. I should have been there to do something. I need you to teach me how to control this." Scott said "Look, I am what I am because of birth. You were bitten. Teaching someone who was bitten takes time. I don't even know if I can teach you." Derek said "You taught Hayley.
But what do I have to do?" Scott asked "Yeah there's a reason he was able to teach me. I'll tell you later." I say

"You have to get rid of distractions. You see this? This is why I caught you. You want me to teach you? Get rid of her." Derek said "What, just because of her family? Wait - wait - whoa - whoa!" Scott exclaimed as Derek threw Scott's phone smashing it. "You getting angry? That's your first lesson. You want to learn how to control this, how to shift, you do it through anger, by tapping into a primal animal rage, and you can't do that with her around." Derek said "I can get angry." Scott said "Not angry enough. This is the only way that I can teach you. Now, can you stay away from her? At least until after the full moon?" Derek asked "If that's what it takes." Scott said "Do you want to live? Do you want to protect your friends? Yes or no?" Derek asked "Yes. If you can teach me, I can stay away from her." Scott said causing me to scoff. "Good luck with that Scotty." I say

I hear Scott go to his room and shut his door and his window. I can smell Allison and Scott's fear. I quickly get up and quietly walk in his room. Scott is worried about looking out the window so I quickly snd quietly sit on his bed. I sense Derek sitting in the chair beside Scott's bed. Scott turns on his stand up lamp. He jumps back when he sees the both of us.
"You both seriously need to stop doing that." Scott said "So what happened? Did he talk to you?" Derek asked "Yeah. We had a nice conversation about the weather. No, he didn't talk." Scott said "Well, did you get anything off of him? An impression." I say "What do you mean?" Scott asked "Remember your other senses are heightened. Communication doesn't have to be spoken. What kind of feeling did you get from him?" Derek asked "Anger." Scott said

"Focused on you?" I ask "No, not - not me. But it was definitely anger. I could feel it. Especially when he drew the spiral." Scott said and I look at Derek. "Wait, the what? What'd you just say?" Derek asked "He drew this spiral on the window of my car, in the condensation, you know?" Derek and I look at each other. "What? You have this look like you know what it means." Scott said "No, it's - it's nothing." Derek said "Wait - wait - wait - wait a second. You can't do that. You can't ask me to trust you and then just keep things to yourself." Scott said "Doesn't mean anything." Derek said "You buried your sister under a spiral. What does it mean?" Scott asked "You don't wanna know." I say
