The Color Guard Couple

The beginning of it all

"Get around the floor!" I ran to the closest part of the floor afraid of being judged in a bad way on my first day of being in color guard. "1,2,3 PULL! Alright everyone sit around the floor and introduce yourself."

My heart was racing. I wasn't very good with interaction with people I barely knew and it was almost my turn. "Hi my name is Abril, I'm going to be a freshman and I'm left handed." I couldn't think of anything else but it didn't matter because after I said that so many people cheered I was in shock. All I said was that I was left handed. That made me feel so welcomed and happy to be here in mini guard camp.

I decided to do color guard because I thought why not. I'll get involved in something and hopefully it will be fun. After all of us "new people" and "old people" introduced ourselves it was time for the leaders to introduce themselves.

Leaders are basically people who teach us things and tell us what to do. We had two social officers, their names were Yesenia and Jocelyn. When the lieutenants introduced themselves I was very surprised one of them was a boy and not just any boy he was a boy who was nicely built, really cute, and maybe a junior and that means I'll never have a chance with him. Great another boy to be intimidated by. The other lieutenant introduced herself her name was Jordan. Last we had two Captains Mayci and Kaylen.

After we finally introduced everyone it was time to get into block. Block was basically six rows of six people and we do stationary dance stuff and flag fundamentals.

We stretch and start being taught dance things by our color guard instructor Ms.Owen or Ms.Molly or Molly one of those three. "Ok now leaders help the new people to understand it and get it right." I look to see who my leader is and it's the boy! The one person I don't want to teach me things because I dont want be distracted or nervous around him.

I hear someone from behind me and it's one of the old people. "Hey my name is Chloe and i think Oscar is a little busy teaching the girls over there so I can teach you." I smile and say "Ok cool so how do you do this thing?"

As Chloe is teaching me my leader comes over. Ok play it cool I tell myself and as soon as he says hi I almost trip over my own feet on smooth ground. When I regain my composer I look at him and say "Hi" "Hi so my name is Oscar if you haven't figured that out yet and I just came over here to see if Chloe is teaching you right because she can be a little off on teaching." I look at Chloe and she has the face of someone who's ready to kill. "Actually Oscar I've been doing a real good job teaching little Abril over here see show him." I show him and he starts laughing and his laugh is so cute and pleasing to the ears. After I realize that I just thought that I tell myself to be quiet and that i have no chance to be with him he's a junior.

  "Well I guess Chloe is teaching you right but I'll always be happy to teach you if you can't figure something out." He gave me the most beautiful smile ever and walked away. After I regained myself I reminded myself to not develop a crush on him because he's a junior and I have no chance with him.  And before I knew it it was time to try flag.
