Peaceful Place

Luke POV

I couldn't help but look over and smile.

Passing the ring between my fingers I looked back up at the stars.

After sitting like this for a while, Alex and I stealing glances at each other here and there, I got up.

"Where are you going?"

"You'll see," I answered. Alex started up to follow me but I nodded for him to sit back down.

"What? You're just going to leave me here? Alone?" Alex responded.

Looking down at one of the other rings on his hand that he was twisting around, Alex continued softly, "can I just come with you?"

I saw him tense up as he asked the question. "Yeah of course" I started, "but I have to blindfold you" I explained with a grin on my face.

"I hate to break it to you bud, but you don't have a blindfold" Alex responded snarkily as he stood up.

I went behind him and reached my hand out to cover his eyes, grabbing his left arm with my left hand to help guide him. I felt his cheeks rise to the edge of my hand, his face creating a smile.

I started leading him up the beach. My original plan was to surprise him with our favorite ice cream place, but now that he's coming with me I want to do something different.

"Woah!" Alex exclaimed as I shifted directions and he stumbled a bit.

"Don't worry, I got you" I responded as I continued to our new destination, another smirk spreading across his face.

We approached the scatter of rocks and I had to be careful guiding Alex through. This was a lot harder to do than guiding him through the sand.

I led his legs up on the rocks and carefully placed them until I reached the middle of the circle-like configuration. The rocks acted as a barrier from the outside of the world, covering three sides and the opening facing the ocean.

I led Alex to the sand, our backs resting on the rocks.

"Open"

Alex opened his eyes and looked around.

I looked into his eyes waiting for a reaction. Even though it was dark out, I could still see the blue shimmer in his eyes. It was mesmerizing.

"Luke?" Alex questioned.

I snapped out of my trance realizing I missed his question completely in my daydream.

"What is this place?" He repeated.

"It's my peaceful place. Sometimes when I just need to get out of the house, and I don't want to be at the studio, I head here. It really helps to clear my mind, especially when writing."

A faint smile appeared on his face, "Well I'm glad you brought me here."

I turned my head to face the ocean and I couldn't help but smile.

Laying into the sand and resting his head on my leg, Alex goes "Go ahead, write, I saw you grab your book before we left the studio."

He really did see everything.

Alex shifted getting comfortable, staring out into the ocean, as I grabbed my songbook out.

I started working on this song. I just couldn't seem to finish it no matter how hard I tried in the past, but for some reason, lyrics were flowing through my body right now.

I glanced down at Alex, snuggled to my leg so comfortably, and I couldn't help but put my notebook down. I shifted my position from leaning my back on a rock to lay on the sand. As I moved, Alex curled up closer to me, moving his head from my leg to my chest. He was still asleep.

I stared at the stars, thinking of this place. It really was peaceful, especially with Alex here. I did leave one thing out though. I have never brought anyone here before.
