My alarm does it's job at 7:30. I'm not ready to face the day. I reach over and see a couple text messages. It's strange waking up to that.
Josh: Mornin' loser
Me: Morning jerkDad: Hey sweetie, can't wait to see you.
Me: Me too!I lay my phone on the bedside table while I do what I need to do in the bathroom. I decide to try and look half decent today so I put on a little makeup and curl my hair. I choose a white long sleeve and throw my sage green dress over it with my Doc Martens. This is the cutest I've looked all year.
"Bella! Josh is here." My mom shouts from downstairs. It's 8:30 already?
I grab my purse and phone, then head downstairs.
"Here's a list and my debit card." My mom says. "Try and hurry back."
"Okay." I nod and take the items from her. "Hi Josh."
"Hey. Let's get going." Josh says and I follow him out the door.
"You look nice." He says and I smile.
"Thank you." I say as I hop into his Jeep.
"Any particular store?" He asks as he backs down the driveway.
"Whichever one is closest." I say.
My mom is going into panic mode right about now. The last thing she wants is to be left alone in the house with Dad.
"Your mom seems pretty nervous." Josh says.
"Yeah she is. She gets like this every time she sees him." I reply.
"Do I make you nervous like that." He says and I laugh, trying to hide the fact that he does make me nervous.
"No." I say.
"That's a lie. I know I do." He smirks. Just looking at his smirking face makes my heart rate increase. I hate that he knows it too.
"You're literally getting red in the face." He laughs and I roll my eyes. When is the teasing going to stop.
"Okay there's a store right there." I say. Thank god. Josh pulls into the parking lot and stops the Jeep.
"What?" I ask. He's sitting there just staring at me with a weird smile.
"Nothing." He says and gets out of the Jeep. I furrow my eyebrows and do the same.
We walk around the store for a while, finding the items on the list more easily than I thought.
"I think that's it." I say as Josh puts a jar of peanut butter in the cart.
"Alright." He says and pushes the cart toward a checkout.
We get in the shortest line and I notice the cashier eyeing us every few seconds. Josh is smirking but not looking at her. Josh pushes the cart ahead when the people in front of us leave.
"Hey Josh." She girl behind the cash says, batting her eyelashes at him.
"Sup Kelsey." He says.
I look up after laying all the groceries on the strip and she gives me an obvious glare. I furrow my eyebrows at her and look at Josh. He's trying to hold back a laugh. She must be one of the girls he used to sleep with, or still does.
"Coming to the party tonight?" She asks.
"We'll see." He says and she looks back down at me.
"Well I hope to see you there." She says to him, putting on the emphasis on 'you'. I guess she doesn't want him to bring me. She doesn't have to worry about that. I have never been invited to a party before.
