I roamed the hallways of the high school I attend. To me, it sounds silent but I can see people's mouth move, and I can tell some are laughing by the way their mouth opens wide. But I kept my head straight, my mouth even straighter and walked past everyone like they aren't even there.

"Good afternoon Bella! I just wanted to remind you about today's peep rally taking place after school!" Some preppy cheerleader, who was also council president, said as I opened my locker.

I shot her a glare, threw my books inside and slammed the locker door. I rolled my eyes as I turned my head and kept walking to the door that led me outside.

High school. There's not much for me to say about it other than I hate it. Back there, the incident with that cheerleader is not my normal behaviour, today haven't been the best of days. Let me tell you a bit about myself before I get into that.

As you already know, my name is Bella Jenkins. I'm thankfully in my senior year of high school. I'm surprisingly a straight A student. People don't see me as a popular person, and neither do I. I only have one friend, and most times she hangs out with her cheerleader friends or her boyfriend, so I don't know what to call her really.

My mom and I moved here to LA two years ago. We moved next door to the most popular "badass" in school. Josh Hutcherson. He rides a motorcycle, has girls hanging from him 24-7, and since I've been here, I don't think he've laid eyes on me before.

Josh is somebody I find attractive, but I would never, and I mean never ever date him. Not that I expect the opportunity to ever arise, but it's something I promised myself when I first learned about him.

That's enough about me. Let me tell you about the rest of my day.

***

It's 7pm. My mom is still working and I'm upstairs studying. My mom is a writer for a company here in Los Angeles so she spends many evenings working late at her office. I don't mind though, I like being alone sometimes.

My dad left when I was seven, but my mother haven't found anybody that loves her as much as my dad used too. I'm almost eighteen, so we spend a lot of our time together, she says she doesn't need a man to make her happy anymore, because she has me.

I was interrupted from my homework when I heard a motorcycle outside my house. I sat on my window ledge and looked outside. Josh took his helmet off, laying it on the seat, wrapped his arm around some girls waist and began walking to his front porch.

I stared deeply, not realizing until afterwards that he shot me a glance with a smirk. I quickly closed my curtains and got back to my homework.

Moments later the front door opened and a smile grew on my face. I tied up my robe I had over my pyjamas and skipped downstairs to greet my mother.

"Hey sweetie" She smiled as she laid her purse and computer bag on the kitchen island. "How was your day?"

"Same as always" I shrugged. She kissed the side of my head.

"You'll soon be done there honey. Only a few more months left" She said.

My mom knew how much I hated school. Mainly because I didn't have any friends, it don't bother me as much as it bothers my mom. She thinks I'm lonely, which I don't completely disagree on. Some days I would like to go out with a friend, but I never made a true friend when I moved here.

"Why don't you invite Ellie over for the night? Her parents are out of town aren't they?" She said. She didn't mind me having friends over on school nights. She's pretty chill with me, because she trusts me.

"She's at Ryan's tonight." I said. Ellie is my cheerleader friend. I'm not sure why she wanted to be friends with me, but she's sweet and not like the other girls on the squad. We hang out every now and then, but we have been getting closer.

"Oh well, I'm going to get a bath then head to bed. I have an early day tomorrow. I love you honey" She smiled and started making her way up the steps.

I sighed as I walked to the living room and threw myself on the couch. I flicked on the tv and began looking through the channels. My eyes slowly began to shut but hearing my moms voice made them pop back open.

"Bella! I forgot to tell you. The Hutcherson's are coming over tomorrow night for dinner!" She called from the bathroom. The Hutchersons? As in Josh?. My heart stung and I sunk deeper into the couch.

How am I going to get out of this??
