• Chapter 23-If You Still Care •

Waking up,I felt the gap behind me.I frantically turned around.I knew it.I knew something was wrong!I reached to my phone to call him.It didn't even ring.It went straight to the operator woman's voice.

I called Klaus before I lost it all."Uhm...Klaus?D-D-D-Do you know where-Where Adrien is?B-Because he's not here and...And he was here before.Uhm...Is he-Is he ok?"

He sighed."He's fine,Reine.Don't worry.He is completely fine."I nodded."Ok.Where is he then?If he was fine,he'd be here.""He had to leave.I don't know when he'll come back though.He didn't tell me."

I nodded."Ok.Where is he going then?Why isn't he answering?""He's probably still in the plane.His phone is probably turned off.I don't know where he's going either."

"I-I-If he calls you back before he calls me,could you tell him to call me back?""Sure.But I doubt that he'd call me before he calls you."I nodded."Ok.I-I-I'll see you in the cafeteria then."

"Sure."

We hung up but something was off and I wasn't convinced.I missed him.God knows when he left my side.Or when he'll come back to me.Why did he leave,anyways?

When Adrien said she'd worry,I didn't expect this.She wakes up and the first thing she looks for is Adrien's presense.She's too deep in.

I called Adrien after she hung up."So your phone isn't turned off.""What do you want?"I rolled my eyes."She called me.About a minute or two ago.She said she called you but you didn't answer."

"I don't trust the people around me.I had to block her number so it wouldn't pop up on my screen and catch the attention of these people."I nodded."She sounded like she was about to cry,Adrien."

"I left you there to look after her!Why are you calling me if she sounded like she was about to cry?!""What am I supposed to do?She's your girl.I have my own."

"I don't care.If it's necessary,tell Aceline that I'll be gone for a while and that I asked you to take care of her.If she loves her best friend,she'll understand.Don't take your eyes off of her or her surroundings,Klaus.Or I swear to God,I will kill you and dump your body.I don't care who the fuck your father is."

"I can see that.You're lucky,I like your girlfriend and see her as my friend too."I hung up on him and made my way to girls' dorm rooms to check up on Reine.

I knocked on Ace's door first."Hey,big guy.Where is Adrien?Is he already in with Reine?"I sighed."That's kind of why we need to talk.Could we go inside?"

We sat down in her room."Adrien left."She narrowed her eyes."To where?And why are you telling me this and not Reine?"How am I going to tell my girlfriend without telling her the parts I shouldn't?!

"I know nothing.Literally nothing.All he said to me last night before he left is that he isn't taking me with him because he needs me to look after Reine for him.He doesn't know where he was going,how long he'd be gone...I just know that he left because his father insisted."

"So what?!He just left her like that?!If he had taken you with him and didn't leave you behind for Reine,would you also be gone?!"I nodded."Ace,I've carried you in my heart for the past decade.But if he says that I come with him,I go with him."

Aceline scoffed.

"Klaus,what the fuck is going on?!First this warning thing.Both me and Reine,by the way.Then this whole 'resurfacing' crap with the magazine?!Secrets,carrying a burner?!Talks and whispers away from us two?Klaus,Reine is choosing not to see anything because she trusts Adrien way too much.She is ready to jump off a cliff with no caution if Adrien tells her to.But I'm not like that.She had people around her that took care of her.That she took care of.I know that I am all I have.That Reine and myself is all I have.So I need to know.I need to know the truth.No more whispers.No more secrets."
