Six months ago my parents passed in a car accident on their way home from date night. Since then I've been living with my dad's sister. I'm only a freshly turned 16 year old. However, I'm being shipped up to Lakesview Oregon. Yeah, totally different from Jameson Louisiana. Apparently, my grandfather, my mom's dad, requested that I moved up north to stay with him for at least a year. I'm not happy but I'm not mad. I know it's hard on aunt KC and uncle Tanner to take care of another kid. Not to mention five people in one-two bath, 3 bedroom apartment. If anything I'm nervous. I've never met grandpa Holt Jordan. I honestly didn't even know mom had any living relatives.

Anyway, that's what lead to me standing in front of the gate to my plane at the airport. Saying bye to my aunt KC, uncle Tanner, and cousins Sam and Nancy. Aunt KC wrapped her arms around me and squeezed. Tight.

I think my soul just left my body.

"Can't breathe, " I wheeze out. My uncle grabbed her shoulders and pulled her off me. I gasped in a big breathe.

"Oh! Sorry, " concern covered her face, "I'm just going to miss you so much, sweet girl."

"I'm gonna miss you too, but I'm sure he'll be ready to send me back within the week." I chuckled trying to lighten the mood. KC looks on the verge of tears.

"That's not true kiddo. You're a great kid and he'll love you. You start school next week so I bet you'll make plenty of friends. You'll do great Summer May Watson." Tanner said pulling me into a hug.

"He's right Sum, " every little thing will be alright"," KC said smiling as I knit my brows together trying not to smile and burst into a giggling fit.

"Did you just quote Shark Tale?" I asked her, at least I hope I got the right song rolling through my head.

"Maybe I did, maybe I didn't, " she shrugged and smiled at me. We chuckled a little then we heard an announcement overhead.

"People boarding plane 68 to Portland Oregon may now board the plane at gate 163."

I sighed, "Well, that's me. Bye Nancy, bye Sam." I looked at the 14-year-old girl with her mother's black waves draping in her face. She was feverishly texting away as her 10-year- old brother with a horrible gaming addiction just look right through me and nodded before looking back down at his Nintendo. Tanner nodded his head in disappointment and KC slumped her shoulders with a sigh.

"They love you and will miss you very much," KC said turning her attention back to me. Sure they will. If anything Nacy is ecstatic to have my space in the bathroom. Though I give it a month until Sam misses me since I helped when it came to chores, meaning Sam will have less gaming time now. That is if it doesn't take him a month to notice my absence. "Now you better get on honey so you don't miss the plane. Remember - no talking to strangers, I packed snacks into your purse and cash but use it wisely. We love you and text us when you get there."

Even though I'm nearly a foot taller KC gives me a kiss on the forehead and I exchange a hug with Tanner. I turned and headed To the gate, stopped and straightened my cross-body purse, and turned back for one last wave. This time Nancy and Sam were both looking up from their electronics. They waved back, I turned back around, made sure my black cap was son securely, and headed to the flight attendant. I dug around in a pocket in my purse for my ticket then handed it to her.

I looked around at the remaining seats and found a free window one. I took a seat ND secured my seat belt, held my bag to my chest, and found my phone and headphones. I've never flown alone before so my nerves are now extra jump and music's always the cure. I play a special playlist that works magic every time, I'd suggest trying it... My Disney playlist. I swear I'm one big five-year-old most of the time. The first song to play is when will my life begin from Tangled. I leaned my head back and let my eyes flutter closed.
