It was a normal morning in la Maison De Tulle. Maya woke up in her room, the cup of hot tea that she had sipped on the night before, now cold, and sat on the small dresser beside her bed. green and yellow vines trailed up the sides of the walls, wrapping around the whole of the room. The silk, white sheets were now tossed and wrinkled.

The brunette girl sat up in her bed, swinging her legs over the edge of the bed. Her feet glided across the cold, dark brown hardwood floors that rested on the ground. She then stood from the bed, adjusting her white nightgown and reaching for the doorknob. She opened the door to reveal a rush of maids running along the halls, doing their daily chores.

"Good morning Maya." four velvety voices greeted. "Good morning, Ancestors!" Maya replied happily, as she ran to the kitchens to help one of her best friends.

"Don't run so fast Maya! I can't catch up!" Steven yelled from behind her. "Then run faster, Steven! You're taller than me, so put those legs to use brother!" she chuckled before running into someone.

The two fell to the ground with a surprised 'oof' as the person broke her fall. Maya looked up and was met with a boys, sparkling chartreuse eyes.

"I am so sorry sir! I wasn't watching where I was going!" Maya apologized, frantically getting off of the poor boy. "That is alright madam, I wasn't watching where I was going either." the boy replied with a chuckle.

"What is your name?" he asked as she helped him up to his feet.

"Maya, Maya Tulle." She replied, flashing him a small smile. "And yours?" She asked curiously.

"Issac Shadows." He said, politely kissing the back of her hand.

"Maya! Leo would like us in the throne room." Steven informed her, clearly out of breath from running so fast.

"Thank you, brother. I'm glad to have met you Issac Shadows, perhaps we will meet again under different circumstances." Maya said, and ran off, dragging her brother along the halls of the large mansion.

Maya jolted from her bed, a glaze of cold sweat covering her body. A wave of nausea hit her like a ton of bricks. She wanted to throw up but she simply refused to. Instead, she sipped some water and tried her best to regain her steady breathing.

Maya had been having night terrors ever since her daughter Athena had been sent to boarding school in Germany.  At first, they were small memories of her life in 1880, but then they started to become more clear. Her dreams were always re-occurring but they would have different endings each time. She thought that It was a sign, but she didn't know of what.

Steven knocked on the door, causing Maya to jump a bit.

"Maya, wake up. Mom's been gone ever since last night. Have you heard from her?" Steven asked walking into her room, his nose stuck in his phone.

"No, I don't know where she is. But maybe if you got off of Tinder,  It'd be easier to find her." Maya said, rolling her eyes at her twin brother.

"Hey! What's with the hostility?! And don't talk to me like that. I'm older than you missy." Steven said, shoving his phone back into his pocket. "By three minutes! Get a grip man!" Maya said, throwing the covers off of her body. "Did she go to the store?" Maya said, walking into the living room where her mother would usually spend her time in the mornings watching the news.

"We went to the store the other day. I don't see why we would need to go again. Besides, we're heretics. We don't need to eat food." Steven replied smartly.

Something didn't feel right to them. Something went wrong. They were sure of it.

Three months, and thirty-two locator spells later, Valerie still hadn't appeared. She wasn't even showing up on the map. When the twins tried to do the spell the blood would seep into the map and vanish as if nothing was there.

The twins had finally found acceptance that their mother wasn't coming home. Of course, it hurt but they needed to move on before the sadness and anger could get to them too much.

Instead of focusing on the pain that their mother had caused, they looked at the situation as an advantage.

They could now do whatever they wanted without their mother's second opinions or the guilt trips that she constantly gave the twins in order to make them stay. If they were to be completely honest with themselves, it was suffocating. This opportunity was like a breath of fresh air.

Steven was out on a hunt, drinking multiple animals dry in the woods.

Steven had heard a shrill shriek from behind him, causing him to whip around and make eye contact with a group of women with their children. They must have been hiking in the woods, judging by their outfits.

"Monstre!" (Monster!) or "Aider!" (Help!)

Before steven could even take a step towards them, something was injected into his neck, and everything had faded to black.

"Maya! We need to leave! Now!" Steven said, running into the house and frantically packing some clothes. "What do you mean?!" Maya asked, standing from her chair, the book that she was reading still in hand. "Ils savent que les vampires existent et ils cultivent de la verveine!" (They know vampires exist and they're growing vervain!)

Maya chose not to ask any further questions and packed some important personal belongings. They both got into the car and drove off to the nearest airport where they compelled a pilot and boarded their plane to the United States.

Virginia to be exact.
