No-ones POV

After Derek had calmed Maya down, she decided to tell Athena. She had a right to know. She stopped at Athenas door where she built up the courage to knock. "Come in" her daughters soft voice called. She then twisted the door knob and stepped into the room. "Mom! Why are you crying? And why is everyone saying sorry?" Athena asked, pulling her mother towards the foot of the bed where she sat down. "I'm sorry Athena... Your grandfather-" Maya said, cut off by a sob escaping her lips. "What about grandpa? Mom what happened to grandpa?" Athena asked, growing worried. "He's gone my love. He's dead." Maya said, wiping her tears, only for more of them to cascade down her cheeks. "W-what?" Athena stuttered, not believing the words that came out of her mothers mouth. "No N-no. Your wrong. I swear mom if this is some sick type of joke-" Athena said, her eyes filling with tears. "It's not. I-i'm sorry." Maya said, pulling Athena to her chest as she started to cry.

Athena loudly sobbed into Mayas shirt, sobs shaking throughout her entire body. Maya felt absolutely horrible. She knew the pain that her daughter was experiencing all too well. It hurt her even more because she couldn't stop the pain. All she could do was rub her back and tell her that everything was going to be okay, even though she didn't even believe the words coming out of her own mouth. After about half an hour of crying, she noticed that Athena had fallen asleep due to the exhaustion of crying. She picked her up and laid her down in her bed, pulling the covers over her body.

After Maya had tucked her in, Athena wouldn't let Maya go. She had part of her shirt balled up into her fist, making it almost impossible to leave without waking her up. Maya then decided that she would stay with Athena since they both needed someone next to them tonight. Maya settled into Athenas double sized bed. She kissed her forehead and fell asleep, Her daughter in her embrace for the rest of the night.

Meanwhile in Stevens dorm

Steven stared blankly at the fireplace, his cheeks stained with tear streaks. So many different emotions were running through his brain. Sadness. Anger. Guilt. Fear. Resentment. Frustraition. The same three questions being asked over and over again. 'Why him?', 'What if he hadn't pushed me out of the way?', 'What if I had turned myself into the ancestors? Would he have died then?'.

Stevens thoughts were interupted by a knock at the door. He turned around to see Brandon in the door way. "Hey..." Brandon said, walking into the room. Stevens eyes stared to water all over again, and his lip started to quiver slightly.

Brandon then ran over to him, and held him in his arms while he cried into his shoulder. It pained Brandon to see his loving boyfriend like this. "Why him?! Why is it always the people I care about most?!" Steven painfully sobbed into Brandons shoulder. "Your gonna be okay, I promise. It'll hurt for a while, but one day you'll except the fact that he's finally at piece." Brandon said, rubbing Stevens back. " I don't care! I wan't it gone! I need to pain to go away!" Steven said, trying to take deep breaths but failing.

After a while of crying everyone heard a panicked Caroline, run into the school and released a loud agonizing scream. Steven and Maya bolted down the stairs. and walked over to a crying Caroline. She looked up at the twins, and opened both of her arms offering a group hug which they accepted. The three cried for hours, until they all decided that Stefan wouldn't want them to cry over his death, but to remember all of the good times they had together during their short fragmented time together.

Caroline had decided that he needed a funeral. She refused to think that he wouldn't have a funeral. They needed closure. Closure that he wasn't coming back, and that he was staying dead. Hope then stepped forward and muttered a spell, causing Stefans skin to look normal. All of the black and grey veins dissapeared. The discoloring on his skin turned back to normal.

"Redi ad cutis color de tuum"

Everyone then went to their rooms for the night but none of them slept well that night. Four souls didn't sleep at all.
