"Athena is my daughter."
Issac stared at her confused. Confused as to why this child would hold and concern or importance to him. It's not like she was his child. It didn't matter to him.
"I'm not following, what does that have to do with me?" He questioned sitting upright, his back resting on the headboard as his eyes fixed upon her. His eyes took her in. She looked much different from when he last saw her. But that was over a century ago. Surely, she was bound to change. Although her features didn't change, the way she held herself and her personality changed drastically. It was evident that she had matured.
Maya stood from her seat, pacing back and forth, one of her hands making its way into her hair, trying to form the words to tell him that he had a daughter. All the words she attempted to form caught in her throat, her mouth agape, and no sound coming out. She was fearful and nervous about the many possibilities that could happen if she told him.
"Maya, what are you not telling me?"
Maya's hands shook nervously, her eyes wandering away from his gaze. Issac stood from the bed, his head was spinning as he caught himself on the edge of the bed before he could fall to the floor.
"Are you alright?" She asked, taking a step towards him.
A smirk formed on his face. "After all of these years, you still worry about me. I'm not shocked."
"Oh trust me, I hate you still. I'm just a good person." She muttered, sitting on the chair next to the bed as she sighed shakily. He looked at her, urging her to go on. "It's not something I can just say, Issac. This could change your life drastically."
He gave her an annoyed look. "Damn it, woman, just tell me!" He said, his voice raising slightly in frustration.
"Fine! Athena is your daughter too! You got me pregnant before you left, I gave birth to her and raised her to be the amazing girl she is!" Maya said, standing from her seat, her hands balling into fists. "Are you happy now?!" Maya said with a sigh.
Issac looked at the girl in shock. It was impossible. Vampires couldn't procreate, everyone knew that. "You're lying. There's no way that she's mine!" He said, his temper starting to rise.
"Do you honestly think that I would lie about something like this?!"
"Your ancestors told me you were a liar!"
"You believe them?! The people who put you under a love enchantment?!" Maya exclaimed, both of their faces mere inches apart, anger in both of their eyes.
"How is that even the slightest bit logical?!" Issac whispered, his voice dangerously quiet.
"I don't know. All I know is that we slept together, you left and I found out I was three weeks pregnant." She whispered back, looking at him with a frustrated glare.
"That thing isn't mine, and you know it." He said backing away from her.
"Really?! Then why is she a carbon copy of you?!" She said, grabbing a photo album from Steven's nightstand, and shoving it into his chest.
Issac looked at her suspiciously, opening the binder, and flipping through pages until he came across a picture of Maya and a little girl, who seems to be around the age of four or five.
Maya was looking at the little girl with love, wide and happy smiles on both of their faces as they scrunched both of their faces up. Issac's face fell as his eyes scanned over the picture, his fingertips tracing it as he inspected the girl's face.
She wasn't lying when she told him that Athena was a carbon copy of him. Their face structures matched perfectly. their chins, their noses, and even their smiles were the same. The only thing she had of Maya's was her hair and her eyes.
