Shizu's bare feet carried her through the howling storm, running from something she could not escape. She didn't want to move away from her home, her friends, her life, so here she was, running away from her house so she would no longer have to move but it did not change the fact that at some point her little 8-year-old legs would no longer be put up for running anymore.
With her parents getting a divorce, she had no choice in who she got to go live with. Instead, she had to go move with her mother and live in the UK, leaving her life behind.
Her mother was English and her father was Japanese. They had met when her mother came here for her studies and sparks flew but I guess it didn't last. Her father slowly started falling out of love with her mother which had lead to an argument almost every night. They eventually snapped one night and arranged the divorce papers the next day.
There was one person who Shizu was most upset about leaving and that was Ushijima Wakatoshi. The little girl had first met him at the age of 6, and ever since she had stuck by his side. Shizu went up to him on the playground to ask if she could sit with him for lunch. To say the least, the boy was amused by her as most people found him intimidating (even at such a young age), so he decided to say yes. She learned about his volleyball and he learned about her adventurous personality. 2 years may seem like not a lot of time but they had made memories they would never forget and knew each other better than the back of their own hands.
Shizu begged her mother and father to stay in Japan but both had agreed it would be best for her to stay with her mother. And so fast forward to now as she finally came to a stop and thought over the decision her mother and father had made, maybe they were right after all. With that she waddled back home, soaking wet but was met with warm arms, a towel, and of course a scolding from each parent.
