Fredca and Squirrelflight strolled through the forest together. Fredca her tail and head drooped, grief for her father still lingering on her. She looked up to see Squirrelflight walking strong and proud, despite also losing her parents and two of her kits.
"Squirrelflight, can I ask you something," Fredca asked.
"What is it," Squirrelflight asked, turning around to face Fredca.
"How do you ignore your parents' and kits' deaths?"
Squirrelflight looked surprised by the question and thought for a moment.
"The thing is, I don't. I miss my parents and kits everyday, but I remind myself that they wouldn't want me to grief for them all day. They would want me to continue serving the clan as deputy. You're father would want you to do the same."
"But you just make it look so easy," Fredca said.
"Trust me, it's not. But overtime you do start to figure things out," Squirrelflight said. She placed a paw on Fredca's shoulder. "You don't need to grief alone, Fredca.  If you ever feel upset, remember you can come to me or Leafpool or Whitewing or even Rainwhisker for support. We got your back."
"Thanks Squirrelflight ," Fredca said smiling.
"Hey, that's what friends are for," Squirrelflight said smiling back.

As Fredca and Squirrelflight continued to walk, a rustling was heard in the bushes and a badger appeared.
"Look out," Squirrelflight yowled. The badger hit Squirrelflight, knocking her out. Fredca stood in horror as the badger walked towards Squirrelflight. Then a mixture of fear, anger and hate began to grow inside her. First and badger killed Willowpelt, then one killled her mother, and now this one was going to kill her best friend.
"No," Fredca shouted. Red lines were on her eyes. The badger turned towards her. "I will not let you take another loved one of mine!" Fredca ran towards the badger and slammed it to the ground. She then began to punch and slash it's s face, getting blood all over her paws. When she stopped, there was nothing left of the badger's face. She shook her head to clear her mind and when she saw the badger's corpse and her bloody paws, she gasped and began to panic.
"Oh, no," she said. This was exactly what her father did to the purple guy and now she did the exact same thing. She saw Squirrelflight getting up and noticing the badger's body.
"What happened," Squirrelflight asked.
"I killed it," Fredca said. "This is bad."
"What do you mean?"
"Do you remember the story about my father killing a twoleg in cold-blood, creating Shadow Freddy?"
Squirrelflight nodded and quickly realized what Fredca was trying to say.
"You don't mean," she said.
"Yes, meaning their is a shadow inside me and will be unleashed soon."
"What are we gong to do?"
Fredca tried to think of a plan. If she told the clan right now they would be furious that she had destroyed the peace given to her father. But then she realized it took Shadow Freddy a couple of months to gain his power, the same had to be for her.
"We won't say anything," Fredca answered.
"Are you crazy," Squirrelflight said. "How could hide a secret like this?"
"I know, but my father said it took a couple of moons for Shadow Freddy to grow. Maybe the same can be said for my shadow," Fredca explained. Squirrelflight still looked unsure.
"Please, Squirrelflight," Fredca pleaded. "You'd said you have my back. Please keep this a secret for me, at least until I figure out how to stop it."
"Okay," Squirrelflight said. "Your secret's save with me. Now go wash your paws in the river." She looked at the dead badger's body. "And what should we do with that?"
"Hide it," Fredca said. "Make sure no one finds it."
