"Watch your fucking mouth you dipshit!"

     "Suck my di—"

A harsh push on my back pulled my eyes away from the two very grown-up adults fighting in the middle of the road, creating traffic and throwing absurd insults at each other. They had been fighting for the past 15 minutes but nobody was bothered to step in to stop them. Everyone was amused at the fight, including me. Sometimes it was fun watching a fight or some being drama unfold from the sidelines rather than being a part of it.

"Don't touch me you, fat-mouthed bozo!", I stifled my laugh behind my hands at the insult thrown by the bald guy when his collar was grabbed. The bald guy's girlfriend was completely unfazed by this whole situation, almost like this was a daily occurrence to her while the other guy's girlfriend was the only one who stepped between the two guys and tried to stop the fight. More weird insults were thrown around. I chuckled under my breath and turned around, pushing my way through the crowd to go on with my day. Another hard shove to my back had me tumbling forward and almost falling on my hands and knees.

My back hit the wall behind me, knocking the breath—

Two hands grabbed my upper arm and helped me straightened up, "Shit I'm so sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going." I let out a shaky breath and gave the man a small smile ignoring my erratic heartbeat.

It had been a month since the whole robbing incident. That day after I spent half of the night sitting under the scorching hot water and then mind-numbing cold water—which did hit a major blow to my water bill—sleeping at night was impossible until the crack of dawn when I passed out due to exhaustion.

The day after the whole incident, my jaw was bruised with red-purple finger marks and my back hurt terribly. I had to spend the next three days locked in my apartment due to paranoia and the bruises that were visible on my face. Ava's family emergency went on for longer than I expected so I didn't have to narrate the whole incident to her, for which I was very grateful.

My money and credit card were stolen from my purse. I didn't have much cash on me so it was okay but I didn't know why that guy stole my credit card because the very next day I had my card blocked. I repeatedly denied late-night shifts at the restaurant that I work at and got home before 6 pm for extra safety measures. Ever since that night, I carried a lot of self-defence weapons with me wherever I went and not just one bottle of pepper spray.

I crossed the streets and came across a man sitting on the pavement, begging for money. Feeling sympathy for the guy, I fished out money from my purse and strode over to him. The closer I walked to the guy, I realised that the guy was blind. My steps faltered when I noticed the presence of the guy sitting beside the blind man.
