"I would love to go on a spontaneous date with you!" I snickered at the look of confusion that passed over Zion's face when we both asked each other a question at the same time. I blurted out my positive reply to his question without batting an eyelash, I also emphasized the word spontaneous because it sounded silly in my head.
Maybe the wine from last night hadn't left my body at all.
"I won't kiss you in a shabby park." My laughter stopped when I heard his reply to my question.
"Why not? You were ready to kiss me in my breakroom!" I retorted, not understanding why he won't just kiss me. It's not like there were kids present in the park, in fact, there was nobody present here. Everyone was probably taking a nap.
Was my breath stinky?
Zion grabbed my wrist and pulled me up on my feet, "Now that you've agreed to go on a date with me-"
"-spontaneous date," I unnecessarily added,
"-I think we should wait till our date is over to kiss." He finished seeming unbothered by my interruption.
"Nobody waits until their first date is over to kiss each other nowadays." That is not be true and I'm obviously lying but that doesn't matter. I just want Zion to kiss me.
He swung his arm over my shoulder and I reluctantly started walking ahead, making our way out of the park. "But we will." I scowled at him, "You're annoying!" I was still high on wine and apparently, Zion was high on humour because he didn't stop his teasing, "Yea? So are annoying guys your type? Because you just agreed to go on a date with me, the annoying guy."
Two can play this game.
"No, my type of guys are the ones who yell at me right after I've helped them and paid their hospital bills," I shot back. Zion halted abruptly and faced me. Regret swam in his eyes and I immediately felt guilty. Shit! I took it too far I guess.
"I didn't mean it like that. I was trying to…...tease you back" I tried to make poor amends.
"You know I'm sorry about that right?" Zion's uncertain voice made my heart clench. Smiling sweetly and shooting a thumbs up at him, I tried to make him feel better, "Yup I know you're sorry and I forgive you. I also vow to never bring this up. Ever."
The air around us was still heavy with regret so I nudged my shoulder against his—well I tried to but ended up nudging my shoulder somewhere under his armpit, "So what's the first thing on our spontaneous date, kind sir?"
The goofy and carefree Zion slowly came back in place. He opened his mouth to say something but my stomach chose the very same moment to remind me of its empty state by growling loudly.
