HIS FEET LANDED BACK ON THE FLOOR, emitting a soft thud as he escaped the whirl of blue. The boy ends up a few meters away from where he originally blinked. Instead of the warm hues of the golden hour, he was greeted by the dim light of the ceiling while the windows revealed the evening sky. He starts taking note of that slight disparity, yet he pays no mind, believing that he must have likely been too immersed with his practice.

"Five?" The seventh child, who seemed to have just finished her lessons, widens her eyes at the sight of her brother. She almost drops the violin in her hand. "You're back?"

He furrows his eyebrows at his sister's question.

The boy specifically remembered telling Vanya that he'd be working on his spatial jumps earlier that day. It was odd to hear her ask as if he left the mansion when he'd been there just a few seconds ago.

His eyes look at her questioningly as if he were demanding an explanation, but before the words escape his lips, Allison catches sight of him from the other end of the hall.

The third child exclaims with her voice loud and clear, "Where the hell were you?"

Five looks at both of his sisters like they were acting crazy.

It takes a beat before he finally responds, "I was practicing spatial jumps around the house—"

"Don't lie to me," Allison scowls, talking over him.

He still can't determine what was causing her to act this way.

"We've been searching for days and Dad said you were on a stakeout for the past two weeks. But Eight and Ben insisted you didn't mention anything—"

"I wasn't lying," the boy cuts her off, aggravated by her hysterical behavior before her words finally sunk in. He remembers what the girl just said, and questions it, "What day is it?"

"What are you talking about?" Allison looks at him as if he was getting on her nerves.

It wasn't like Five to act oblivious. In fact, although she was aware of how it had always been difficult to read his mind, it was unlike him to even act this way.

"What day is it?" Five repeats sternly, demanding an answer.

Out of intimidation, Allison responds instinctively, "Saturday."

"The exact date."

"September 28," Vanya buts in despite the confusion she attained from both of their behaviors.

It hadn't only been Five who was acting strange. Allison seemed so antsy as if something was bothering her. With how things had gone that week, Vanya figured it was a normal reaction but at the same time, she didn't want the two to lash out at each other.

"I was away for almost two weeks?" Five mutters disbelievingly, gazing down the floor as if he was in deep thought.

At the thought of him fooling around, the other girl crossed her arms, trying to restrain herself from pulling her hair out. Allison raises her voice in aggravation, "Look, I don't know what you're trying to pull but we have bigger problems."
