First Chapter
In the middle of an endless night, I woke up. I remember it was a February night, still very cold. My room was dark, and cold, since they left some hours before. Only one candle had survived, slowly covered in an intense flame very shiny and at the same time, so dim. I grabbed the cup with my warm hands and opened the door of my bedroom. The house was quiet, and the air could easily penetrate within my skin, liberating a sense of nostalgic warmth. The ground cracked when I walked; slowly I got down the stairs to the kitchen. Then, after pouring the hot chocolate into the cup, I walked again into my room and looked at the clock. I felt the dried tears inside the skin of my cheeks. I went outside, at my white-dreamer’s balcony, it had a creamy tone and astonishing flowers with roaring colors collapsing in my eyes. I looked down my frozen feet. Sat on the edge and taste the soft flavor of hot chocolate, so warm. While I looked down the street, the intense aroma of the chocolate that finally pierces into my body made me shiver hastily. But suddenly I stood motionless. And felt another essence near me, familiar but still, quite distant. Notice how it made me anxious. And the wind blew with more strength. I stood up, the door unexpectedly stamped and I saw a shadow hush quickly behind the long velvet blinds. My cup fell to the ground, breaking in smaller bits. Crashing and rolling over the floor and the brown dense liquid inside was all over the place. Touching the ground, and then a permanent silence rushed through my ears. It was disturbing, but the stars in the sky made me comfortable. Then, I heard some footsteps, which were sinister and broke constantly the silence, and slowly the warmness I had inside my body, after having the hot chocolate. Someone touched my body, and I turned around, looking for a sign of movement into the dark of the night. When I felt someone behind me, whispering to my ear.
