Emma lay in her new room, looking around. Tony had told her, and she quotes, "Get some sort of feel or something to the room. I don't know. Just, stay in here." She had found the action suspicious, but didn't say anything about it. Instead, she decided to text them to get some much needed Natasha and Clint info.
Emma
YOU GUYS ADOPTED SOMEONE?
Emma
HOW? WHY? WHO'S IDEA?
Tony
You aren't going to ask who?
Emma
If I know you guys adopted someone, I obviously know their name.
Emma
Speaking of, a girl named Emma? Really? Nothing to do with me, right?
Tony
So... we didn't adopt you?
Emma
If you had I wouldn't be in my Livingroom eating pizza with my dad and watching Harry Potter.
Emma
I would be holed up for an unknown reason in my room.
Tony
How do you know she's in her room?
Emma
You took her to a room (which im surprised has no cameras) and she hasn't left it yet.
Emma
So, unless you killed her...
Tony
We're planning a surprise party for her, can't you see that?
Emma
Well, duh. I hacked the cameras, but she doesn't know that, does she?
Tony
I guess not.
Emma
And that's why you're the only one texting.
Tony
I guess.
Emma
So... why did the Avengers adopt a child?
Tony
It was Clint and Natasha's ideas!
Emma
Oh.
Emma
Really?
Emma
I wonder why.
Emma
Look, I gotta go. The movies over and I have to go to the store.
Emma threw her phone on her bed and laid on top of it when the door started to open. She was surprised her excuse had worked. There were so many holes in that story, but he didn't seem to see them.
But, Emma wasn't surprised when Clint walked in and asked, "Huh. Are you the Emma we've been texting?"
She rolls her eyes, "Really, Clint?"
"'Cause you look just like her." He points out with a smile, "How've you been, Emma?"
She shakes her head, "You saw me yesterday, Clint. At training."
"Well," He sighs, "The surprise of the party has been ruined."
She shrugs, "I don't much like surprises anyway. I can act surprised, too."
He nods his head, "Well, you better make it look pretty convincing. Wanda reads minds."
She rolls her eyes again, "You should get going. Don't want my new parents to find out you're in here."
He nods his head and rushes out, soon to be replaced by Wanda and Pietro. Both stare at her surprised that she's even here.
She raises an eyebrow, "Hello? The staring?"
Wanda nods her head and apologizes, "We're sorry. It's just-"
"-We can't believe that the others adopted someone." Pietro finishes.
Emma sighs in relief, "Same here. Especially me."
Wanda's eyes flash red, "You're lying."
Emma just shrugs, "Maybe I know people. There could be many reasons as to why I'm not surprised."
Pietro raises an eyebrow, "You got adopted- through connections?"
Emma smiles and chuckles, "I guess so. There's no other way."
Pietro scoffs, "And who might these connections be?"
"Classified." Emma says in a low and mysterious voice, "Now when can I come out?"
"Soon." Wanda replies and then leaves with her brother.
"Now we wait." Emma mutters.
