Rory's POV

I looked around to see all the people who came to say goodbye to me and to wish me good luck before I went off on the campaign trail. I saw Babette and Miss Patty. Lulu, Kirk and Taylor, my grandparents of course. There was Luke. Oh, and there is Liz. Lane and Sookie came and so many more people who were there for me when I was growing up. Obviously my mom, the most important person, was right by my side.

I quickly searched to see if Logan was there. He wasn't. Obviously. I was surprised to realize I wasn't upset by the fact he didn't come. Saying "no" to his wedding proposal was the right thing to do. In my heart I'd always known we weren't meant to end up together. And even though the break up still hurt me, I knew I would get over it.

After seeing Logan wasn't there, another face came to mind. I searched the crowd for the boy with the book in his back pocket, probably wearing a leather or denim jacket. I searched for his half broken down car, being held together by the paint.

Luke must have told him about today. He would want to congratulate me and wish me luck. Say goodbye to me before I leave for I don't know how long. Right?

But he wasn't there. I knew I shouldn't have expected him to be there. I guess he took our last encounter as a final goodbye. How could I blame him? I went down to Philadelphia only to kiss him and then tell him I was in love with someone else. I told him goodbye. How could I even think he would come back to Stars Hollow to see me. Does he hate me? I know I hate myself for playing with his feelings.

I smiled during my little speech, I thanked my mom and started to feel nostalgic. I wanted to thank one more person, but he wasn't even in the crowd. He was the one who reminded me of who I was and always encouraged me to be the best version of myself. Would I have ever returned to Yale if it wasn't for him?

I was almost done with my speech when something caught my attention. A car pulled over at Luke's. My heart made a little jump, but it wasn't his car. It was a black little jeep, so I looked away. I heard the door of the car open and I looked back at the car. For a moment I forgot to breathe. The person coming out of the car quickly catched my glance and stared right back at me. Jess.
