Reece woke me up in the morning and gave me a cup of tea before he got back into bed with me. “What do you want to do today?” Reece asked me, sipping from the cup of tea he’d made himself. I shrugged. “I want to go out,” I replied. He sighed, clearly becoming frustrated with me. “You know we can’t. Trust me, I’d love to take you on a real date and show you off to everyone. But Claire is my girlfriend and everyone knows that,” Reece explained. I looked down at the cup of tea in my hands. I wanted to have a real relationship with Reece. I didn’t want to just see him for a couple of nights a week at my flat or at a hotel. I loved him.

“I love you, Lottie, you know that, right?” Reece questioned and I nodded. “I love you too,” I answered and kissed him. “How about we go away for the weekend? We can go someplace where nobody will know us,” Reece asked. My face lit up. “I’d love to,” I replied. This meant we’d be able to go out in public. And go on real dates.

Reece’s phone started ringing and he was quick to answer it. “Hello,” he spoke. I stayed as quiet as possible as I knew that no one could know he was with me. “You’re joking?!” he sighed. “Okay, I’ll be there as soon as I can,” he said then hung up the phone. He put his cup of tea down and got out of bed. “Sorry, Char, the band needs me,” he told me as he started getting dressed. Of course.

When Reece was dressed, I walked him to the front door. “I’ll call you,” he said then kissed me. “I love you,” I replied as he left my flat. I was alone yet again.

Once I was showered and dressed, I made myself some breakfast. My phone started ringing just after I’d made a cup of tea and I quickly answered it. “Hello,” I spoke. “Hi, Charlotte, it’s Mr Stuart,” my college tutor replied. “Oh, hi, is everything alright?” I asked. “Indeed. An opportunity to spend a few days at some local studios has come up. But this time you’ll be studying the media from a different point of view. They’ll explain the rest when you arrive. Be there at eleven, okay?” he told me. “Certainly, thank you for this opportunity,” I replied before he hung up the phone.

It was just as well Reece had left as I couldn’t turn down this opportunity. I put on a blazer and some heeled boots before grabbing my bag, phone and keys and leaving the flat. I had to catch the train to the studios and as usual, I did not get a seat but that was to be expected on a busy weekday morning.

When I arrived at the studio I was greeted by a producer who took me to a dressing room. “Lads, this is a media student from Surrey, she’ll be spending the day with you,” the producer told someone. He opened the door further so I could enter the room.

Eight pairs of eyes were suddenly on me. One of them was all too familiar. “Media student?” one of them questioned and I nodded. “So you’re spending the day with us?” he asked and I nodded again. “Excellent. Well, I guess introductions are in order then,” he said. “I’m James and this is Jake, Tom, Charlie, Casey, Barclay, Chris and Reece,” James told me, pointing at each of the boys in turn. “It’s nice to meet you all,” I replied, avoiding eye contact with Reece. “I’m Charlotte.”

“Have we met before?” Tom asked, giving me an inquisitive look. “Yes. I came to the studios when you were on the X Factor,” I answered. “Oh yeah! I remember you. You joined us for dinner that evening,” he told me and I nodded to confirm. “As much as I like this little reunion, we have work to do,” Reece piped up. My eyes made contact with his and he was frowning at me.

On the way out of the dressing room, Reece grabbed my arm and pulled me aside as all the other lads walked along the corridor. “What are you doing here?!” Reece snapped. I snatched my arm out of his hand and glared at him. “I am here as part of my media course,” I answered. “I’m sorry. I just can’t risk anyone finding out about us,” he told me, glancing around us before kissing me.

Reece and I caught up with the rest of the lads as they went into the main part of the studio. The band had a show in a couple of days and I was stuck with them until then. James smiled at me from where he was stood on the stage while I stood beside one of the cameramen. I returned the smile and he winked, making me blush.

After the lads had done a full run through of their set list, James made his way over to me. “If you have any questions about anything, just let me know,” he told me and I smirked, knowing that he didn’t have the first clue about working in a producing team. “I will,” I replied, smiling. The lads and I were sent into the cafeteria to get something to eat.

I grabbed some food and sat down beside Reece. “No one’s going to find out about us,” I spoke quietly before the rest of the lads came over to us. Chris sat down across from me and I smiled at him but he didn’t return it. I wondered what his problem was.

“She’s fit. I might ask her out,” James told Jake as they walked over to the table, obviously not realising that I could hear them. I smiled as I overheard their conversation. “N-no, you can’t,” Reece piped up. James and Jake turned to look at us wide-eyed. “Why?” James asked Reece. Chris was glaring at both me and Reece.
