I came to, strapped to a metal bed, and in my animal human form. I struggle to break free, but receive a shock, as if to discipline me. My digivice and heirloom are missing.
"Test subject fully awake." An intercom with a distorted voice says.
I examine where I'm at. There's a large black wall. Obviously a one-way window. Similar to interrogation windows. The room is made of thick concrete other than the window.
"Bring in the friend of test subject." The intercom says.
A door on the far end of the room opens. I see Agunimon walk through. I smile, but quickly stop as I see a gun up to his head.
'No!' I think, scowling and struggling to break the restraints.
"Don't worry Kaden. You can't control this. I'll be fine. Protect the Digimon." He says, frowning and looking down.
"Let him go! Kill me! He doesn't deserve this! I'm the one you should have a gun pointed at the head of!" I shout at the window, "Please. I'm nothing. I've done enough in a life time. I've harmed and killed innocent creatures. Just shoot me instead."
"...commence." The intercom says.
A gunshot rings through the room and hurts my ears. I look at Agunimon's direction to see him dissolving.
"No." I whisper, tears welling up in my eyes, "NO!"
I look at the restraints holding me down, and singe them with flames. I slowly get up, grunting in pain from shock. The man that shot Agunimon turns to run as he notices my escape. I jump off the bed and pursue him. The door he came through is reached first by me. I jump on the door, and push off, grabbing him.
"Put the man down!" The intercom says loudly.
I don't answer, and throw the man at the black wall as hard as I can. The glass breaks, and I jump through it. The silhouette of the speaker was my use of targeting. I land on the human, and raise my claws into the air as I prepared to strike downwards into the head of the human.
"Stop!" A surprising female voice shouts.
"Wait. I recognize that voice!" I say, curious.
I look at the human's face to see...MOM!
"What?!" I shout, falling backwards in shock.
"They called me here to reason with you." She says, putting a hand up.
"Yeah. You definitely reasoned with me, debating the fact my friend is dead." I say, emphasizing the word dead.
"Watch your mouth when your speaking to your mother!" She says.
Here comes the big realization.
"Your not my mother. I don't have parents, and I was never human to begin with." I say angrily, "Now stay out of my way pathetic human, or I'll strike you down!"
I was surprised by what I said to her. I was going to consult her regularly on this topic at home, but this just made our relationship that of a cell mate to his most hated officer.
"What?!" She asks, shocked at how I discovered this truth.
"Now, tell me where my LIVING friends are being held!" I shout at her, "Or I'll take you out of the way!"
"You wouldn't! I know you wouldn't!" She shouts.
"Watch me do it! Just like my life, that statement was a lie! You don't know what I'll do!" I shout, an ember escaping my mouth, "Now tell me!"
She looks towards security cameras.
"Room C-19. Let me go now!" She says spitefully.
I make an angry grunt. I look at a desk to my left, and spot my heirloom and digivice. I snatch both up, put them on, then I sprint on all fours to a thick metal door holding the room shut, and melt a large hole in it. I start to run around the whole facility. I was sprinting through every hallway, searching for a room number starting with C. All the hallway's were white walled and the ceiling was the same tan color as the floor. I finally find C on the doors I'm running by. I find C-19 finally. I skid to stop like a dog. I stand and worry about what I'm going to see. I hesitate, then open the door slowly. I peek around it to see them hanging by appendages. Agumon and Gaomon were upside down with Gatomon, Guilmon, Bokomon, and Naemon though. Nicolas is sweating. Probably tried to reason with the people that killed Agunimon in front of me with anger and yells. I see no one else in the room, and I rush over to them.
"Guys!" I say, "Wake up! Come on! We got to go!"
Nicolas eyes open slowly. He looks down at me in surprise.
"Kaden? I thought they killed you." He says tiredly.
"Well I'm not! Come on guys! We got to go!" I shout at the others.
Everyone comes to slowly. I release them all from the shackles holding them up. I warn the six Digimon before I do though. Gaomon, Gatomon, and Bokomon land on their feet. Agumon, Guilmon, and Naemon on the other hand...they both fell on their heads and fell back to sleep.
"Wake up!" I shout at them.
They slowly stand as well.
"Hey Kaden." Says, stretching more than I've ever seen him do before.
I see a hint of red on his arms, and wonder what in the world it was. I just shrug it off, and walk to the door I came through.
"Guys. Let's get out of here." I say, looking back at them as my hands on the door.
"What are you?" Kaley asks.
"Oh. My human shape was changed. I really doubt I can be in public again." I say, laughing awkwardly, as I scratch my hair.
"Oh." She answers.
"C'mon. We need to get out of here before any humans attack us." I tell them.
"Why would they be attacking us Kaden?" Micah asks, rubbing his neck sorely.
"I don't really know, but Nicolas...my 'Mom' was brought here to 'reason' with me." I say, making quotations with my fingers around Mom and reason.
"Oh no. That must've been a bad reunification." He says.
"Yeah. She definitely reasoned with me by killing Agunimon." I say, feeling more agitated by the thought.
"She what?!" Nicolas asked angrily.
"She gave an order to proceed with what was happening, and Agunimon is dead now." I say, looking down, "I revealed to her I know the truth about me."
"Oh...that wasn't a good occurrence either, was it?" He says, still angered.
"Yep. Okay. Let's go now." I say.
I turn and open the door and let the others leave first. I follow when they've all left. I look both ways down the humongous hallway, no one else to be seen. I digivolve into Agumon, and start to jog down the hall at a reasonable speed for the others. The others followed cautiously. I turn a corner to see a huge room with servers and plugs in a digi portal. I start to examine everything, searching the servers for information. I summon Alis above my left hand.
"Alis. Can you search these monitors for any information on the raid brought over the digital world?" I ask her.
"Yes Kaden." She says, drifting away in the room, entering every monitor.
We wait a couple of minutes when she returns to me. The others are curiously searching for anything that is a threat.
"Did you find anything?" I ask her.
"Yes. I'll insert this data in your mind." She says, floating into my head.
"Okay. Do it." I tell her.
A short burst of pain goes through my body. I start to see images of data files. I see a long paper that is listing routes for incoming attacks on the digital world. They successfully mapped the whole digital world precisely. It seems as if they've seen everything I've seen. That's when I realized a fact.
"They found all of these places because...it's where I've been! Alis! Can you search my mind for anything attached to my nerve system? It would look like a small module attached to nerves near my eyes." I ask her quickly.
"Yes. I'll be fast." She says.
I can feel her presence moving within me. The presence stops directly behind my eyes.
"I found it!" She says successfully.
"Great! Can you remove it?" I ask her.
"Yes. Hold still. This may hurt a bit." She says.
My eyes are having small pained feelings.
"Did you get it?" I ask her.
"Yep!" She says.
"So they won't be able to see through my vision?" I ask, scratching my head.
"Yep!" Alis repeats.
"Great. Now, let's get out of here." I say, walking to the entrance door.
"Kaden...you might want to see this." Kaley says.
I walk over to her and the others, and she points at a huge map on the wall. It has all the names of large locations and regions. But one thing is odd about this map. Red lines are pointed across the whole world.
"What is it?" I ask, looking back at Kaley.
"Look where all the lines come from." She says, clutching Gaomon's glove.
I follow the lines until they all stop at words. I squint to read the words.
"Explosive planting points." I read aloud.
"They're going to blow up our home!" Agumon says sadly.
"Kaden. Who are we messing with here?" Nicolas asks, "I know little of these American companies and societies."
"I'm not really sure yet. All I can really say is that these are people with big money, and are working behind the back of the president." I say, cracking my knuckles, "We need to end their company then. They're rich of enough to have top class mercenaries work for them."
"We should probably hurry up here Kaden." Nicolas says angrily, balling his hands into fists.
"We'll go, but first, I need to list where these insertion points are." I say, spotting a notebook and taking it, "If we want to stop the explosives, we need to know both when and where the bombs will be placed."
"Hurry." Nicolas says, glancing towards the door.
"I'm doing it now." I say, sketching quickly.
I fully made ridges, mountains, and listed all the cities and major key points as to of where a bomb will be placed.
"Now...when we get there, we need teams of two. One group heads there." I say, pointing with two fingers at the dragon and electric region.
"And the other team heads to the Flame and Rock region." I say, finishing the sketch of the map.
That was surprisingly quick. I'm actually glad I took those intensive mapping classes in my free time. I examine my map, comparing it to the other. Suddenly, the sound of boots rushing across the tile occurs.
"Kaden. We got company!" Nicolas shouts to me, hiding behind a server wall.
"Guys! Get your heads down! We'll deal with this!" I shout, flipping a large square table to create cover for them.
I turn and sprint to join Nicolas on an opposite server wall. The sound of boots becomes louder and mercenaries pour into the room. I look Nicolas in the eyes, and we both nod quietly. I turn the corner and charge the human, by the back, in front of me with my claws. My claws are in his back. I spin him around, put my finger on the trigger of his gun, and shoot blindly into the mercenaries in front of me, using the one I stabbed as a body shield. The mercenaries fall to the ground. A click of a gun cocking occurs behind me. I turn my head to see what caused this sound and see a hired gun aiming at my head. Nicolas suddenly leaps over the server wall near the man, and sliced his gun in half like an onion. He then kicks him in the chest, which causes him to destroy several servers.
"Thanks." I say, breathing heavily.
Nicolas punches the man in the head, causing a loud bang.
"Ouch." I say.
The man is knocked out.
"Come on out guys." I say, waving a hand.
Kaley is first to emerge. She was fine until she saw the man with a hole in a chest, with the others with bullet casings around them. She stands covering her mouth.
"Don't think it's bad yet. It get's much worse." I say, warning her of what's likely to come.
"Oh my goodness." Jack says, walking over them, the Digimon following.
"No time to stand and mourn the deaths. More are likely to come, and we need to escape." I say, nearing her.
She looks at my hands and backs up sheepishly. I look down and see the blood on my hands.
"Come on!" Gaomon says.
She comes to me, and walks past.
"We got to run." I say, nodding to Nicolas.
"Yep." He answers.
"Wait! What about your Mom?" Jack asks.
I look into his eyes.
"What about her?" I ask, slightly aggressive.
"Are we going to bring her with us?" He asks.
"Well...if you were back stabbed by someone you thought loves you and find them giving an order to kill your friend, what would you do?" I ask him.
"Hmm...." He says, looking up.
"I'll answer that. She got here somehow. She can get back." I tell him, shuddering at the comment I just made.
Jack shakes his head in disbelief.
"This isn't you! What if she was told to do it, otherwise something bad would happen?!" Jack asks, angrily questioning me.
"What if's are just what if's! We can't know until we know!" I shout, grabbing him by the shoulders and pushing him against the wall, "I'm going to get my family home before one of them dies!"
"So you're taking your Mom home?" He asks, confused.
"No. I'm taking all of you home. Now, come with me." I say, calming down, unhanding him.
"Fine." Jack says, rubbing his eyes tiredly.
We start to walk, when I look back at him and feel like he's my main priority with the others on getting them out. Even if it means my life.
"Kaden. We need to take a left here." Alis says.
'How do you know?" I ask her.
"I also looked at a map of the building when I was searching for the thing you needed." She said.
'Good thinking!' I think to her happily.
I take a left, and that's where I see the exit.
"Hey guys. Our exit." I say, pointing at the door.
I rush them to reach the door. They all make it there. I walk up to open the door when a thought is in the back of my mind. I couldn't stop it. I could mend this tear, or keep my tail hidden from her. Mom. What should I do? If I leave like this, who knows what'll happen? I shake my head regretfully, a wave of guilt covering me. I remember the order, and I scowl. Then, all the comforting thoughts returned to me. Thoughts of life before now. Before I yelled. Before I threatened her. I see me falling off my bike, and crying in pain. Mom comes running up to me, and lifts me off the ground, looks at my cut. She takes me to the house, bandages it and looks me in the eyes.
"You'll be fine little one." She says, and kisses me on my head.
