Another week passed by as I was finishing all my exams for the trimester. Arizona had a date for orientation at the new high school I was going to graduate at. I was uneasy about going, but I knew I couldn't go back. I also didn't want to drive the distance; it wasn't worth it. I was spending about every day in the office working on essays, and exams or I was in Arizona's office at the hospital doing the same exact thing.
"Gracie," I heard.
"In the office," I said. Lexie walked in, seeing me type away, and sat down next to me, smiling.
"What are you working on?" She asked.
"I'm working on my last essay. After this is done, I am done with this trimester," I explained.
"That's amazing, Gracie, I know you've worked so hard on this," she said. I smiled, finishing the paragraph, and then turning to look at her.
"What's up?" I asked.
"Meredith asked me to bring you to your appointment. She's doing another check. We know that some of the bruises are still there, and she wants to check on everything again," she said.
"It's already that time again? I hate doing them, it's so uncomfortable," I said. Lexie nodded, as I turned back to my computer, reading what I had, and finishing the last few sentences before I was done. "What time do we have to leave?" I asked.
"Uh...in like 5 minutes?" I shook my head and then nodded.
"I just want to finish this essay to be done," I said. Lexie nodded, while going on her phone, and I finished the last few parts of my essay, and then going back through fixing the grammar errors, and then saving again. "Submitted," I said. Lexie smiled and high-fived my hand as I closed my laptop and stretched.
"You're done for the trimester?" She asked. I nodded, and she smiled, wrapping her arms around me. "I'm so proud of you, Grace. You've worked so hard," she said. I nodded, and stood up, and quickly hurried upstairs to put on some leggings, and a loose t-shirt, and a cardigan to cover my arms. I got my socks on, and slipped on my vans, while Lexie got her bag. "Ready?" I shrugged, and I followed her out to her car, while she started the engine. We finally pulled into the parking lot and found a parking spot next to Meredith's car. I got out, and waited for Lexie, as she walked right next to me.
"Where am I meeting them?" I asked.
"You can head to Arizona's office, and then I will page Meredith that you're here," she said.
"Do you work tonight?" I asked.
"I do, but Meredith, Arizona will be going home with you tonight," she explained, I nodded and hugged her as she hurried off to her locker room. I waved to April, and Owen while getting on the elevator, and then walked to Arizona's office, feeling people staring me down. I opened her door, to see Callie sitting in her chair. I took a deep breath, and left the door open, as I sat on the couch.
