Riley's P.O.V

I sat around fora the rest of the day, not seeing a point in leaving me room Shane came in around 4, and I quickly wiped away my tears and turned on the TV"Hey Ri" He greeted me happily and sat down next to me."Hey Shane" I said, my voice slightly shaking. "where have you been?""With Elise!" He told me as a smile spread across his face. "Turns out she asked some people about me, and after you left for breakfast she came by the room. We spent the whole day just walking around campus and getting to know each other""Thats great Shane. Tell me more about her" I said and layed my head on his chest, then bit my lip and closed my eyes. I needed Shane to tell me about Elise, I wanted to make sure she was good enough for Shane, andit would be a good distraction. Especially since I was on the verge of tears and everything in me was shutting down Shane wrapped his arm around my shoulders and chuckled "Where should I begin? Shes amazing. Shes funny, caring, from Minesota, has two older brothers, loves animals, she plans on becoming a marine biologist and volunteers at animal shelters. She loves going to concerts and spending time with her friends and family. I want you to meet her Ri. I bet you'll like her" He said and started slowly rubbing my back."Wow Shane. She sounds great" I whispered and ment it. I was glad Shane was happy and I really wanted to meet her. I felt Shane nod then he said "So what did you do today?" He asked I sighed and got off him. "I broke up with Nate" I managed to tell him strongly Shanes eyes widened then he whispered "What?" and all I could do was nod. "What happened he asked?" His voice rising."I was with Christian and he said he had to show me something. So we went back to his room. I opened the door and there was Nate on the couch with a shirtless Avery on top of him, and they were kissing" I explained, staring at the floor, remembering every detail of this mornings horific events All of a sudden I started to cry, I buried my face in Shanes chest and cried harder than ever before, sobs shaking my whole body."Shh Riley. It'll be ok" Shane said and huggedme tight I just cried and shook my head no, "Is it suppose to hurt this much?" I asked quietly Shane kissed my forehead and gently stood up. He looked very angry"Wait here. I'll be right back" He said and stormed towards the door"Shane? Where are you going?" I asked him and rubbed my eyes He didnt answer me. Instead he stomped out of the room. I had no choice but to follow him. "Shane!" I yelled after him. He was headed towards Nates room As soon as I turned the corner, Shane was banging on Nates door"Shane! What are you doing?" I yelled and ran towards him. But I was too ate A tired looking Nate opened the door, onlyto be greeted by Shanes fist which hit Nate in the mouth so hard he fell to the ground I reached Shane and started pulling on his arm "Shane! What are you doing? Lets go" I said calmly and tried to pull him away Nate rolled over on the ground and mumbled "Fuck" then stood up, wiping away some of the blood coming out of his lip."Dude?" Nate managed to say before Shane cut him off"How dare you hurt her!" Shane yelled, and Nate turned to look at me as if he just realized I was standing there. He looked even more tired up close"I trusted you to take care of her! To treat her right! And you go and cheat on her! Your sick man! SICK!" Shane continued to yell and then shoved Nate so hard he had to grab onto the door frame or else he would have fallen down "Riley" Nate said and took a step closer to me. Shane stood in front of me with his arms crossed"Let me explain myself!" Nate yelled at Shane"No!" Shane yelled back. "Theres nothing to explain!" I couldnt take this anymore. I wanted to scream and run away. Instead, I took a deep breath and stood in between the both of them, placing a hand on both of their strong chests. Just like my first day at Brixton and Shane and Nate almost got into a fight outside of the headmasters office I quickly took my hand off Nates chest once they both seemed to calm down, then I turned to Shane"Shane, lets go back. I really dont feel good" I said and took one of Shanes hands Shane stared at Nate for a few more seconds then looked down at me. "Ok Lets go" He said and we turned to go back to our room"Wait!" I heard Nate call. Against my better judgement, I stopped walking but did not turn to face him"Let me walk you back Riley" He said quietly. "Please" I felt Shane tense up beside me and I squeezed his hand then kept walking Once we were inside our room I walked straight into the bathroom"Riley" Shane said and slipped into the bathroom before I could close the door. I sat on the edge of the bathtub and he knelt in front of me. "Did I make you upset?" Shane asked I shook my head. "Walking away from him, that was the hardest thing I ever had to do" I said and didnt even bother to wipe the tears away this time I looked down andcaught sight of Shanes hand which was already starting to bruise. I got up and got some ice from our mini fridge then wrapped it in a towel I gently took Shanes hand and held the ice against it When I moved my hand, Shane pushed my sleeve up. Checking, no doubt. I glared at Shane and stood up"I'm fine Shane" I told him and held my wrist"I know. I just wanted to make sure" He said and looked down. "You never told me what happened over the summer, that made you do it again" I sighed and blurted out "My old best friend ditched me for drugs and alcohol. All my old friends did this summer. When I didnt do it, they totally isolated me. My parents worked all summer and were home for an hour tops all day. I was completely alone Shane. All summer" I confessed then shrugged. "But what else is new" I whispered then ran out of my room, not exactly sure where I was going.
