The Day Before
Mid day sun hit like a dragon fire over the ranch.
He was already shirtless but shit he'd take his pants off too if he could have gotten away with it.
Tyler already had a ten ton weight of problems on his back and he didn't need another one.
But he stared at it through the horse corral.
In his whole life he'd never seen someone outside of TV in a red suit.
A tall woman, with bronze skin and jet black hair.
She was talking to his father, another problem, but it didn't take long to realize she must have been from that damn money firm.
He agreed pretty reluctantly to see someone else but didn't think they'd send them so quick.
The corral was huge but from this distance he could still make out her features.
There seemed to be a friendliness between her and Bobby.
But his old man liked to talk, always had. Just another way they were polar opposites.
Tyler didn't know how he was going to handle this.
He had more work to do and was just out here for a quick break.
But then he saw her in the suit and it snatched his attention.
Was that how women in L.A. dressed? Red power suits with weird shoulders and shoes that looked like they could murder somebody?
Damn.
The only thing that seemed out of place were the glasses.
With the sun daring to burn his forearm, he rested it on the fence anyway and just watched her.
The horses filtered his vision in the vast space between them so it didn't seem so obvious.
Women had been off Tyler's radar for a while and with good reason. Even with the sweet ones things ended up in shambles.
And he'd worked hard to forget about it.
To keep things simple, he made it a point to keep women off the ranch.
Yet still, his eyes instinctively took in parts of her that he probably shouldn't.
What interested him the most just then was the heart-shaped neckline under her blazer.
He could barely catch it because of the panels of the fencing, but the glimpses when her jacket widened showed something that made him adjust his mouth.
Not too big, not too small, just kind of perfect.
Perfect tits on a woman that had no business being here.
He sighed through a flat mouth.
That's when the eye contact hit.
She was looking back at him through the fence.
The shift in his blood didn't have shit to do with the temperature.
He should have tugged his hat back down to avoid her eyes but he didn't.

"When are you going to start spending some money, Tyler?"
It was closer to the end of the day than the beginning.
He'd been busy as hell so they had to push back showing her the office and they hadn't talked much.
It struck him that she called him by his first name. They were walking up to his office now and he quietly wondered if she was tired.
