"Tyler?" Her hands were on his chest when she fell to her knees beside him.

He felt rocked and had no idea if his head bounced off the ground.

For a second he thought he felt her fingers on his face and struggled to answer her. Then the rest of his guys swarmed around and things kind of blurred.

The only thing he remembered was her hands pulling away.

After a shitload of drama and a hospital visit, he was back home with a cast due to a nice ankle and calf muscle sprain.

Jose and his other hand Will helped him get inside to his couch.

Folk standing around like he was going to break was getting on his nerves.

"I know you all got shit to do," he said. He was thankful for the help and their quick action but he wasn't the type to be hovered over.

There were some grumbles but they began to leave.

Jose was the last to go. "Call if you need anything."

"I'm good but I will if I need you. Make sure the guys keep Sandalwood away from everyone for the rest of the day."

Jose nodded before he left.

"You know you coulda broke your neck right?" Bobby leaned over the back of the sofa near his shoulder.

Tyler's mouth flattened. "I'm good."

"You better be glad all that happened was your leg gettin' nipped."

"I know you got somethin' to do too." Tyler whipped his head toward his dad.

"Nah, it's evenin' was just going to grab a bite. How did things go with Lucy last night?"

"Fuck." Tyler muttered.

Where was Alex? Hadn't she followed them to the hospital? Or maybe she decided she didn't want to work for a dumbass that fell off horses and split.

"Over a year with no women around and now you got two of them to take care of you."

Tyler's eyes rolled up. "Holy shit. Can you make your plate and get out?"

"I think I'll take my time. It's not like you can chase me out." Bobby smiled under the mustache before heading into the kitchen.

Tyler exhaled hard through his nose. "Where's Alex?" he growled.

"Here." She pulled back on the screen door and stepped in the living room.

"What happened to you?" He didn't intend the gruffness in his voice. Or maybe he did. A small part of him wildly thought she'd really left.

She stepped closer, eyeing his cast. "On the way back from the hospital I got a call. The delivery guy got lost trying to find this place. You put me down for an emergency contact."

"Delivery guy?"

"For your truck, he's dropping it off outside."

Tyler leaned his head back. "Son of a bitch."

"That blue's pretty nice." She found a seat by him on the couch. "Don't worry cowboy, you'll be in it in no time."

Bobby returned and set out a standing tray with a hefty plate of food on it. He placed it in front of him.

"You hungry Miss Reed?" he asked.

"I could eat. Why don't I come help you?"

"No." He raised a hand. "Stay there, I got it."
