THIS IS MY FIRST FANFIC SO SORRY IF ITS NOT THAT GOOD BUT IM TRYING!!
Clay woke up to the sunlight trickling in seeping through the grey dusty curtains hanging above the window. His alarm going off on the small black nightstand next to the full-size mattress laying on the floor; sheets halfway off the bed. Waking up all the groggy, he begins to sit up on the bed getting ready to start the day that feels like is on repeat. He looked over at the alarm clock that read 9:30 A.M.
He gets up to walk over to the window on the other side of the room and opens the curtains. Not many people are out besides one girl jogging by with her dog; he thinks her name is Niki. Clay has seen her around, they even used to go to school together. She looks different than she did a couple years ago, she now has blonde hair that was brighter in the sunlight with greenish blue eyes. They made eye contact and gave each other a quick wave before turning around and heading towards the bathroom.
He walked into the bathroom looking at himself in the mirror wearing grey sweatpants and nothing more, his hair a dirty blonde mess, defiantly in need of a wash. As he turned to turn the shower on, he started to get lost in his thoughts; he often did this at night, but this morning was different somehow, he couldn't put his finger on it.
He stepped into the shower the steam rising all around him. He stood there while the water came flooding down his body, each drop adding to the thoughts entering his head. Clay always felt like he wasn't living up to his best potential. He was right about it too, he never lived life to the fullest or even did anything adventurous, he did the same thing every day. Wake up. Make breakfast for his mom, two sisters, and him. Go to work. Come home. Cook dinner. Go to sleep. Repeat.
25 minutes later he is stepping out of the shower, wrapping a towel around his body. He walked out of the bathroom back into his room. He pulled his clothes, when he heard a knock at his door.
"One second," he yelled to the person on the other side of the door.
"Can I come in sweety," the voice called out, it was his mother, he could recognize her voice from anywhere, she had a voice of an angel.
"Yes, mom."
She opened the door with the same smile she always has when she's around her kids. "Hey honey, how'd you sleep?"
"It was ok, no dreams today."
"We got a flyer in the mail the other day talking about a day in the park and everyone in a 90-mile radius got one, and I think it would do some good for you to go out in the sun and meet new people. Maybe you could make some more friends."
"Mom I have friends; I don't need more." His mom was always worried about him even when he said he was fine she never seemed to believe him.
"I hate to say this honey, but your only friend is Nick and ever since he moved away to Texas, you just don't go out anymore you stay in the house or go to work and don't socialize with anyone. It's just not healthy."
"I know, but I promise I am fine, I am spending more time with you, Abby, and Nichole that's all that matters to me."
"And we love you for taking care of us, especially since your father died, you have been an angel, but you need to stop and start taking care of yourself for a change. I think it would be good for you to go."
She never talked about dad, it was a hard subject to talk about around her. She would act fine but then go and cry and never tell any of them how she was feeling, he guessed that's where he got it from. "Fine, I promise I will go, when is it?"
"A week, it's on a Saturday. So you won't be at work."
Clay nodded his head, hugged his mom and let her leave his room. He placed the dark blue poster on his desk and went on with his day. He went to work and after he got home, and ate dinner, he decided to call Nick and tell him about the stupid 'day at the park.'"Hey dude," Nick said with a deep raspy voice, he sounded like he had been screaming; probably playing a scary game with Karl who he's been dating for almost 6 months.
"You will not believe what my mom wants me to do next Saturday."
"What, is she gonna make you do another knitting class."
"God I wish it was that but no, she wants me to go to this stupid 'Day at the Park' a lot of people are supposed to be coming. She says it will be good for me to socialize and make 'new friends' even though I have friends."
"Dude, I'd hate to say this but I actually agree with her, I'm literally your only friend."
"You really think I'm gonna meet someone at a damn park. Everyone is going to have someone I won't have anyone. I'm gonna look like an idiot."
"No you won't, find that someone to be around. You said a lot of people are gonna be there so, maybe that someone is there, waiting for someone like you to be there person."
