For Ved , it had been a usual day. He'd gone to school in the morning, read his novel before class began, heard lectures about the board exams they would be giving at the end of the academic year, walked home, freshened up, and left for the nearby cafe to finish his homework and then read his novel. His parents were away and their friends, owned the cafe, had suggested he sit there in the evenings.
As he sat there reading his novel, he found a steaming mug of coffee placed on his table and a note under it. He was confused since he'd already taken his on the house cup earlier, and checked the note. It said, "It's ok. Coffee utha aur idhar udhar dekh." ("Pick up the coffee and look around.")
Shrugging, he looked around the cafe. He didn't see anybody familiar, so he went back to his novel. Moments later, one of the waiters slipped a note to him. "Bhai kya kar raha hai? Chashma chahiye kya? Dhyan se dekh!"("Bro what are you doing? Do you need glasses? Look carefully!")
Now slightly irritated, Ved looked around again. This time too, he could see nobody. He resumed his book only to find he'd closed it without putting a bookmark in. Sighing, he started looking for his page when a tissue paper ball smacked him in the head. Now thoroughly annoyed, he looked around for any possible culprits. Not seeing anybody grinning or giggling or stifling smiles, he opened the note, which read, "Bhai tu sach-much andha hai. Chal I'll only tell you. Bookshelves ke neeche dekhne ki kripa karein!" ("Bro you're really blind. Kindly do me the favour of looking below the bookshelves!")
This time he squinted closely in the direction of the bookshelves. The corner was filled with various genres and the tables below them were not as visible due to the shadows. After some squinting, he saw a hand waving at him. Looking closely he saw a familiar, exasperated face. He made his way over to the table where his elder sister Ananya was sitting with her friends from college.
"Didi! When did you get here?" "Just today! My friends came too. I have some news." "Wait, wait. You know you could have called, na? Why harass me with the notes?" "Because, my dear bhai, you need to improve your observation skills." "Oh come on!" "Jo sach hai woh hai!" ("What's true is true!")
And the banter lasted till the cafe closed, while Ananya's friends looked on in bewildered amusement.
A/N:
Hello!
Sorry I suck at conclusions! That's probably because I don't know how to end my statement while talking either😁😁. Anyway, tell me what you think.
Lots of Love
Sam
