"Love does not appear with any warning signs. You fall into it as if pushed from a high diving board. No time to think about what's happening. It's inevitable. An event you can't control. A crazy, heart-stopping, roller-coaster ride that just has to take its course."
-Jackie Collins
As the clock hits 10 pm lucy's shift was over and she had exactly one hour before her "date" with tim, it was more of just hanging out but still. jackson and her having the opposite shift was tiring. Saying goodbye to friends lucy drives home, butterflies in her stomach. Right as she got home she threw her keys on the couch and starting to pick out outfits, reaching in the far back she pulls out a white floral ish dress. She goes in the living room to see that her door was unlocked, "musta forgot to lock it" she says to herself. Before she could even lock it a voice come out of nowhere.
"surprise" slowly turning around trying not to flinch, her heart drops
"caleb" she chocked out
"well if it isn't lucy chen" he smirked
"what do you want from me" she yelled making him smack the gun at her face
"stop yelling. anyways, you didn't think i couldn't find you right, just because you ran away doesn't mean i can't find you. i told you. i will always be back" he laughed
"now, you are going to come with me" he yanked her arm
"no way in hell am i going with you" she pulls her arm back reaching for her belt but it's not there. lauging at her.
"silly, you don't think i'm that dumb"
"i don't care how smart you are i'm not coming with you"
"well that leaves me only one option." he sighed
"and what is tha-" BAM
"it was nice to see you again" we're his last words to her. he had shot her in the abdomen. Collapsing on the ground she crawled her way to her phone but couldn't make it. She had to rely on tim.
Meanwhile tim got ready to go home, getting in his. car and hitting the road, feeling really exited to meet up with lucy. Once he got home he decided to take a power nap, except the power nap was longer than expected.
"dammit" he muttered to himself. checking his phone to see if he had any calls "weird" no calls or text from lucy even thought he was half and hour late. Deciding to give her a call except it went to voicemail
"hi lucy, sorry i'm late, power nap went for a little longer, anyways i'm coming to pick you up. be there in 5"
Walking in her apart floor, immediately something was off her door was wide open, running in as fast as he could.
"lucy?" he walked slowly making his way behind the couch and seeing a pool of blood..
"oh my god, lucy lucy it's tim i'm right here, stay with me" he praised
"t-tim?" she croaked
"lucy baby- i'm right here" searching for his phone to call 911 not realized he had called her "baby" but it didn't matter
"i wanted t-to tell you s-something tonight-" taking a pause
"no. your not dying" tears falling down, she reached out to wipe them away.
"i-i love you, i-i know i'm your s-student and all...but i don't seem t-to h-have much t-time l-left" she winced through her words which he saw
"i love you too...but you need to stay with me the paramedics are coming" looking down at the amount of blood she lost
"tim..i'm so cold" she shivered. tim brought her close to him, still holding pressure on her wound. her freezing cold skin on his lukewarm one felt good. Paramedics and the police arrived right after, her heart stopped.
"bradford what happened" sargent grey said
"i-i um was supposed t-to meet officer chen tonight for- to talk about some things, and i found her cover in her blood on the ground" he spoke wiping his tears
"if you don't need anything else i think i'm going to go with her" he bravely said
"yeah"
Running to his car and driving to the hospital, watching as they weeled her lifeless body through different rooms. Holding back tears in his eyes, if only i had been there earlier he thought to himself. Cursing at himself for not being there earlier as he walked in the hospital,
"officer bradford?" a tall blond ask
"g-grace, i'm here for lucy, did you see her" he panicked
"yes. she's going into surgery right now, it might be a while" she sat him down
"oh, could you tell me when she's out" he asked
"yeah. sure" she replied walking away.
Minutes seemed like hours, hours felt like day, sitting on the plastic chair, panicking when he thought she wouldn't make it, hating himself for not being able to be there. He was so deep into his thought if a person were to sneeze he would jump out of his chair.
"officer bradford, lucy's out of surgery, you could see her if you'd like" grace says. standing up immediately and following her to find lucy. there she was, alive. Tim looked at her, every inch and detail, grabbing another chair to sit next to her except this time he had more hope, holding her hand and slowly began to fall asleep. Waking up to the soft touch of someone playing with the palm of his hand. Jerking up right away to see her smile, her smile was powerful.
"lucy" he almost cried
"tim" she spoke
"i- um- i-i'm sorry- i was so w-worried i was t-to late-" he choked through these words
"are you kidding me, you saved me. and i'm going to spend the rest of my life to make it up you" she held back tears only he could see
"it's my job" he smirked. Trying to get up but the bandage stopped her.
"woah missy take it easy" tim joked,
"ouch. how long will i be on bed rest for" she asked
"at least a month"
"no no no that's not good, i'm a rookie, i have things to learn i-i can't miss once whole month of-" she panicked
"shhh- just because you won't be in the field doesn't be there won't be anymore tim test" he said
"i love you" she blurted out
"oh, crap. sorry i didn't mean t-"
"i love you too" he cut her off
"you do?" she looked deep into his eyes
"I always have" they were both dangerously close together.
"so are we dating or what?"
"i suppose so" he leans in to kiss her.
for the next few months. many things have happened. their caption died. they moved in together. although life keeps smacking them down they always still have each other. or do they?
