"All deception in the course of life is indeed nothing else but a lie reduced to practice, and falsehood passing from words into things." - Robert Southey

"Young Master, you must wake up for school today." Said a maid

"Master?"

"Yes Gloria I heard you the first time" Said Noel from behind door.

"Ok master, breakfast will be ready in 5 min." Said the maid sounding upbeat.

'What an annoying women.' Thought Noel

Gloria was an english maid, that worked for Noel's uncle for 5 years now. She was 24 years old, she had crimson red hair held up in a ponytail and had emerald green eyes. She had a great education background but for some reason decided to work for Noel's uncle, Noel never understood why work as a maid if you had a major in Electric Engineering. She was an enigma to Noel.

Noel came out of his room dressed in his school's uniform. Black slacks with shing black dressing shoes, white colored button shirt and he wore a high collared jacket over it. He wore the jacket as a way to defy uniformity, he hated the fact that all schools under the rule of 'The Sacred Cross' had to have uniforms, so he wore yhe high collared jacket.

Walking down stairs he spotted his uncle reading the newspaper and Gloria making eggs and bacon for both of them.

'So another rebel was captured.' Noel saw what it said in the headlines of the newspaper that Noel's uncle was reading.

"Good morning, Noel." Said Daniel without looking up from his newspaper.

"Good morning, Master." Said Gloria stopping what she was dowing to do a formal bow.

"Yes, good morning uncle and good morning to you too, Gloria." Noel said wearing a smile that if looked more intensely, could be defined as fake.

'I hate to smile, but I can't show them the truth.' Thought Noel

"So they tell me your on the Dean's list, Noel." Said Daniel without looking away from his newspaper.

"Yes uncle, I like to excel at everything I do." Said Noel still with his fake smile.

Looking up for a moment, Daniel narrowed his eyes at Noel. Specifically looking at his smile.

Noel locked eyes with his uncle. Staring at the blue eyes of his uncle.

"Do I have something on my face, uncle?" Asked Noel, feeling his uncle's eyes on him.

"Mmm, no it's nothing," said Daniel as he looked back to his newspaper, " aren't you going to be late, Noel?"

"Oh yes look at the time," Noel looked up at the clock hanging on the wall, " goodbye uncle, goodbye Gloria." Said as he ran out.

"Wait! You forgot breakfast." Mumbled Gloria as she saw Noel leave.

'That smile,....it felt so fowl, so fake.' Thought Daniel

"Well there he goes, master. He's off." Said Gloria

'What are you hiding Noel, why did I feel uneasy when I saw your smile.'

"Master?!" Yelled Gloria to get Daniel out of his stupor.

"Oh, I'm sorry Gloria, just daydreaming." Said Daniel sheepishly.

'Why does your smile feel decepting.'
