The stirabout of Boom's death died down after two days as the police announced it as a suicide. Some say he chooses to end his life because he couldn't pay his debt, too depressed about all his problems at university and found a way to end all his misery by ending his life. Tul wasn't going to believe all the rumours because he knows Boom enjoys his life as Tul do. He has never seen Boom as a suicidal man. He was always smiling and laughing when they hung out together. However, the wider someone smiles, the immense burden they bear, Tul thinks.
It has been three days too he hasn't heard news about Max. Max's absence gets to him when he notices two days in a row, he didn't have his lunch before sitting at his table. Now that he remembers, he has never bought his own lunch or meal whenever Max is around. He recalls back then when Max first did it. He told him off. However, Max never listens to him. He's too stubborn to stop, so Tul let him be. Now it has become a habit Tul barely notice it anymore.
Tul knows Max takes a study leave for a week. However, none of them knows why he did so. Tul feels a little grateful at first because he wouldn't meet Max after Boom's death. That before the police confirms it was suicide. Now that it's all clear, he wonders when Max will come around even when he knows he won't be for a week. Tul is aware somewhere in him doesn't really trust Max, too, thanks to Tay's explanation of his suspicions on that day. He might be showing how he believes Max is clean as he was with him the day Boom dies, but deep down, he knows Tay's explanation makes sense too.
"Stop staring at the entrance. He won't come." White murmurs as he scribbles down on his book without looking at Tul.
Tul turns to him and looks at Tay, New and Foei, talking and laughing loudly.
Apparently, Tul has been staring at the canteen entrance for God knows how long. He sighs as he looks at his unfinished lunch. He stirs it mindlessly.
Has their lunch been this quiet before? he thinks
"Tul, what do you think if we-"
"I'll go to Max's house later," He cuts New mid-sentence. He looks at his friends with determination.
Tay exhales an unamused sigh. "Why?" he asks.
It is clear that Tul wasn't asking for their permission. It is purely a claim, and they know they wouldn't be able to change Tul's mind to stop.
"I wanna know the reason for his leave, and it has been a while since I went there,"
"Can I join?" Foei asks.
"Oh God," Tay mumbles.
He's been trying not to bring Max's topic up at their table because he knows sooner or later Tul will do this, coming to Max's house to ask whatever the cause Max is not attending university.
Tul is always like this. He couldn't contain his curiosity. If he did, he'd gloom till he gets the explanation.
Like in the past days, Tul didn't come out of his room to do all his homework. He usually works with them at the dungeon. One of many signs he begins glooming. He dragged his feet as he walks too with shoulder slumps, and his mind wanders everywhere. Not caring anything in his way. The most annoying sign is he would stir his food and eat only a spoon or two.
Tay doesn't want Tul to get into potential danger, but he doesn't want him to be gloomy all day, or worst, sick. It's better for him to feed his curiosity to the core so they could enjoy their day like usual.
Little did he know...
"Definitely," Tul smiles. Aside from him, Foei doesn't think Max is a killer too. Simply because he thinks Max is fun to have around. Tul thinks it's cute tho because it is pure acceptance without reason whatsoever.
