I'm really exhausted after my show tonight and I think I possibly pulled a hamstring. Not pleasant and incredibly painful! It even hurts just stretching it out. But it is supposed to help it in the long run so I make a mental note to remember to stretch it out when I get home.

But first pizza time! I order the New York Dominos because they honestly deliver the best pizza in the world. If I wasn't being Valjean on Broadway I'd probably be morbidly obese with how many dominos pizzas I eat.

Once I have got the pizza I settle down on the couch to watch Anchorman, which, in my opinion, is the best film ever made. Apart from maybe the sequel.

I try to put all my concentration onto the TV but that proves difficult as about 5 minutes in a loud knocking starts on the door.
"Go away!"
I yell. But the knocking continues.

After another minutes I get up and turn off the TV. I was just hoping for a nice quiet night with pizza and Anchorman but it has to be disturbed by...
"Hadley? Jaiden?"
Behind the door were my two boys. Shivering in their pyjamas and clutching large suitcases.
"Come inside you two."
I say, confused.

I glance out of the window, hoping for any sign of anyone about who might of brought them here. Just when I was going to give up a Land Rover pulls out of my apartment block. It can't be Mandy; she doesn't drive a Land Rover.

Taking my eyes away from the window, I notice both of the boys are shaking, traumatised and close to crying.
"Guys what happened?"
I ask, wrapping layers of blankets around them. Hadley doesn't open his mouth, he's probably too scared to, but Jaiden speaks willingly.
"Mom got in a car accident and is in hospital. Her boyfriend does want to take care of us so he dropped us of here."

I only managed to process the first half of the story because my brain stopped at the word 'boyfriend.' A new boyfriend? I knew she'd move on but I didn't expect her to me on that quickly, by that it's really any of my business anymore.

"Oh boys, that's terrible!"
I say, pulling them close. I've missed them so much since Mandy got full custody of them. I've barely seen the at all in the last year.
"I've missed you guys so much."
I say, ruffling their hair.
"Dad."
Hadley says looking up at me with glossy eyes.
"We've missed you too!"

And without further ado he wraps his tiny arms around my waist and sobs into my chest. I can feel the tears going into my shirt but that's not what's bothering me. Mandy left them. She left her own children. That's why they're upset. And bless Jaiden as he tries to comfort Hadley to no success.

"Hey bud. Everything will turn out right in the end, and you wanna know why?"
I scoot him onto my lap and Jaiden rests his head on my shoulder.
"Because you two are worth that the biggest piece of gold on this earth. You two are the things that I would gladly travel around the world and risk my life for if I got to see you two smile again. You are more special then the most beautiful girl in the world."

"Now try to get some sleep; you two look wrecked!"
"Dad, can you sing us a lullaby?"
Jaiden asks, sitting up.
"Aren't you two a bit old for that now?"
"Please Dad, for Hadley's sake."
So it is then at my son's will that I start to sing Rock Me Mama in a very gentle and dreamy tone in hope that it might convince them to sleep. Well it must have worked because they are both asleep by the 2nd chorus.

With the boys asleep I start to wonder what I do to deserve them. They're such good kids and yet I'm a crappy father. I just wish there were something I could do to make their life happy 100% of the time.
