Opening the curtains, I smiled widely. I was excited to figure everything out. My phone vibrated gently across the table. Nev was calling on ooVoo.
"Hello?" I wanted to keep calm but I was so excited and extremely nervous.
"Hey. We're in Manchester." Background noise overpowered his voice almost too much.
"Okay I'll send my address to you on the message part." He agreed and hung up. After i sent him my address I looked around the place. There was some cleaning that needed to be done. I quickly ran around, filing stuff away and throwing trash out. It wasn't too messy but it was definitely noticeable.
After I finished I heard a deep knock pierce through the door. I froze. This was it. That knock only meant one of two things: in a few days I would either have a full heart, beating anxiously as I stared into Dan's deep, beautiful eyes or I would find out that I was being catfished.
I ran to the door. I wasn't eager for the broken heart, but I was eager for the truth.
"Hello!" I belowed out, swinging my door all the way open. "Come in, please. Come in. Hello, Max." I smiled. Max shook my hand and Nev set his laptop on my table. I led Max over towards Nev. Shaking Nev's hand, I smiled.
"So I've got to say," Max began. I waved my arm to the couch, implying for them to sit down. "We watched some of your videos and you're a really interesting person."
I smiled wide. "Thanks! Did I gain two new followers?" I teased. Nev and Max smiled. They nodded a little which made me feel better.
"So can we see your messages?" Nev scratched his chin gently. Jumping right in, I liked it.
Leading them into my bedroom, I started hoping my room was presentable. It was.
"This is where the magic happens. The conversations are on my computer." I pointed to the laptop, which was already fired up. I got onto it and opened up our previous conversations.
"What would you do if it wasn't actually him?" Max broke the silence. I glanced toward him. I knew that there was a better chance of me being catfished than there was of him actually being Dan but I was hopeful. Hearing it in person, though, it broke me.
I shrugged, looking away. "I know there's a better chance of it not being him but I'm hopeful." I looked at each of them. It was quiet. I knew that Nev wanted it to be real. I could tell during every episode of their show that Nev was always hopeful. Max would deny it. "No no it can't be. The signs are overwhelming."
Nev nodded. "Well," he paused quickly. "Do you guys text?" He closed out of the conversations.
"Well, he told me he doesn't actually have a phone." I dragged out the word phone realizing how dumb that sentence sounded in person. I sighed. My eyes stung with tears and a soft hum started in my throat. I wasn't going to cry. Not in front of them. Max and Nev stared at me. Max glanced over towards Nev and mumbled softly. Nev nodded a little and leaned in towards me.
"Well," he patted my leg. "We're going to get going. Email us every social media site you have us his. Also email us any way besides the chat site that you talk to him." They got off the couch and walked toward my bedroom door.
I reopened my laptop and opened a new email page and started to type out everything I had, and everything I knew about this person. I wanted them either more in my life, maybe more closer dating. Live near each other, or maybe even with each other. Or out of my life, if the person is lying.
