Nev knocked on the big white door. We were told to go through the fence and knock on the back door. There were two different doors. Max was at the other one, knocking. Waiting. I was behind Nev. I wasn't sure who I should go with so I went with the fewest cameras.
"No answer at your end?"
"No. Maybe we should go." Nev turned towards Max, then faced me. I sighed. If I have to live with no explanation to who I've been talking to I'll go insane.
Max quickly gave up and went back to the car. Nev and I slowly followed.
"Can I help you?" A whisper came from behind us. Nev and I both spun around. Max looked up.
A small girl stood there. Her long curly hair fell over her shoulders cleanly; her bangs pinned back. The wind blew her flowery dress forward. She looked like she just climbed out of a popular Tumblr post.
"Are you the one faking Daniel?" Nev questioned. He furrowed his brows as she bit her lip.
"Daniel?" A small smile broke across her face. Even her eyes seemed to smile. "Mm no."
"Are you a fan of Phil?" Max walked up to us.
"Mm yeah."
"Cut the bull shit." Max snapped. I stared at her. Why would someone do this to someone else?
Her lips pushed to get as her eyes examined me. "I'm a big fan," she snickered.
"Why?" I blurted out. "Why would you do this to me? To a person? Why didn't you just do what everyone else were doing?"
She shrugged.
Nev turned away, angrily, and went towards the car. Max followed. I stayed behind a minute, then too turned away.
"Wait, Phil. I know you wanted to love Dan, and I'm sorry."
I didn't turn around. I should've. I was too broken, though, to respond any way. I wouldn't be able to speak, wouldn't be able to hug her or even stand near her.Back in the car, Nev sped off bad to my apartment. Would they go back tomorrow?
