-Mateo-

You may think my story about my life is wonderful, I couldn't ask for more than a four year old daughter, the greatest blessing I could ever ask for.

One of my main targets is Valencia. She is one of the unwitting puzzles in my life. I try to figure out where she actually belongs.

All I know from others there is a rumour going on, that she was about and her birth mother abandoned her years ago. Holding her in her arms knowing she is safe felt right.

"I will give you time to pack your stuff," she nodded her head slowly, snoring her nose leaving into a room. I cleared phone calls with one of my men to clean up the mess we had made in Valencia's apartment.

I made my way to the kitchen island, scanning the table finding envelopes with bills for electricity, rent, she was literally at the edge of landing on the streets.

Placing back the envelope on the island, i take slow footsteps approaching the room where Valencia escaped into. I rested my back on the door frame, observing her as she packed her supplies in her bag.

"Why are you even doing this, I will be safe here since Nate is dead now." She whispered with her back on me. I sigh, as I observe Valencia vanish in search of her clothes. And her moving around her room, cursing under her breath.

With a quick move forward I take her bag from her bed and stay close to her, "It all has its reasons and there will be a few no one can explain." A quiet chuckle escaped her lips as finished packing and moved on to the living room.

The ride to my estate was quiet, the music of the radio played in the background quietly. I pulled the car in front of the garage, making my way out to open the door for her.

Her eyes winded as she looked around and gasped, "What do you do for living." I wandered towards the door and turned around as I adjusted the bag, "Work you don't want to be a part of trust me."

She frowned following me inside the main hall of the house. A little chuckle could be heard from upstairs.

With quick steps Layla wandered to the staircase her blonde hair, "Daddy." She exclaimed in joy, blowing in the air almost blocking her sight. With bare hands she moves them away as I get on my knee embracing her into my arms.

"I missed you, Layla." I say grabbing her upon my waist on her arm she places her arms around my neck, "it's been only two days." I stroke her hair making her laugh.

Hearing her voice and laughter makes me calm knowing she is safe. She is one of the reasons I didn't give up on life.

Every night, she cried as I had her around my arms calming her down made me realize, waking up every morning is worth it for her.

"Two days are a long time." Her eyebrows raised as she looked over my shoulder, her green eyes grew big. I turned around glancing over to Valencia who admired the pictures on the wall.

"Who is she?" Layla whispered, digging her head into my chest, feeling her fingernails on my skin. I cleared my throat walking over to Valencia she turned around as a blush crept onto her face.

"Layla this is Valencia, Valencia this my daughter Layla. Valencia will stay here for a while." A smile curled on Layla's lips,"That's good because Rico is doing a terrible job by taking

care of me, he almost burned our cookies we tried to bake." Layla explains causing another unwilling smile on Valencia.

"She isn't here to take care of you Layla, she is here to work with us?"

"Us?" Malaki voice trails off as he comes towards us running his hand through his hair. I raised my brow letting Layla to ground to stand by herself.

Layla whispered to Valencia's ear and she nodded and they both made their way upstairs, probably to her room.

"You don't even know her boss, what if she ends up being our enemy's daughter or something. And I know how quick you catch feelings but you will do everything to protect her. The way you looked at her in the club proves it all, Mateo.

You need to stop caring about every girl you meet. They will all be the same and never change, wake up and face the reality in front of your eyes." I tore my attention to the window letting his words hit me like a train with no response for him.

"Are you even listing Mateo?" I sighed walking towards the window resting my back head on the cold wall. Malaki is right I need to go on slow with her after what happened to Layla's mother can't keep lying to her about the truth. But sometimes it's better to keep the truth in the past and move on.

"But she is different Mat, you need to trust me on this one." He groaned, his head heated up,"You know what happened last time with... Luna. Layla doesn't even know the truth man." I yawn placing a hand on Rico's shoulder.

"We will catch up tomorrow, at the meeting about mouse." He shook his head making his way to the main door. I waited until I heard the vehicle starting before making my way upstairs. I kicked my shoes off.

The walkway took me directly to Layla's room, the door was split open. I hesitated to open the door and just stayed in my place and listened to their conversation.

"Does your dad always work away from you." I hear Valencia ask, Layla took her time answering her question. It's hard for her to open up to strangers but it seems Valencia has gained her trust quickly.

"Yes he does since m-mom isn't here anymore I feel he tries his best to make me happy but I feel he isn't happy at all, once at night I saw him in the balcony holding a picture of her.

He never mentions her, and avoids my question about her. All he says is that she is in a better place now." The sadness in her voice isn't overheard.

Layla all I try is to protect you but I now I see lying isn't always the answer, I say to myself. The memories of Luna lingered through me, "she was a mistake." Why would you say that to your new born daughter?

"Your dad tries to protect you Layla, in this world there are many people trying to be nice but end up turning evil. What if your mom-," I didn't hesitate and opened the door before she could finish her sentence.

Valencia jumped off helping Layla to clear up her toys.

"I hope I will see you soon Layla." A knock interrupted us. Lucy made her way to Layla as they continued to the bathroom.

Wandering out of Layla's room I made my way through the hallway to demonstrate her to the room she will stay in for a while.

With her light fingertips she felt my arm as I was about to make my way to my room. I turned around as our eyes met. Her hand is still resting on my arm, as it travels up to my neck.

"Thank you for everything." With these words escaped into the room and closed the door behind her. With slow steps I walk towards the door resting my forehead on it.

"It's this going to a new step into her life ?" I whisper to the vault.
