Remember

"Riley.. Riley?" I opened my eyes and I was in my house with my best friend Amber sitting in front of me. "Were you even listening?" She crossed her legs and stared at me.

"Huh yeah sorry, mixed music works for the party." She frowned but said okay.

"You spaced out for a second there."

"Yeah sorry." I looked out the window to see Amber's dog Sticks then I blacked out again.

"Riley, are you in there?.. Are you okay?" I opened my eyes and I was back at the party.

"Yeah I'm fine, where is Amber?" Hunter's face instantly went sad.

"She.. she was found dead with her boyfriend in their house." Tears started running down my face and all I felt was sadness. "You remembered?" 

"Y.. Yeah I did."

"You are okay then? Or do you want to go back to the house?" I blinked,

"Go back home." He smiled and lifted me up carrying me to the four wheeler I laughed as he did.

"Gladly, this party was boring."

"Boring! I planned this party!" I frowned after I said so, "So did Amber."

"Oh I'm sorry." He placed a kiss on my forehead, and set me down, "Let's go."

I woke up to the sound of barking in my ear, "Beth! Come on girl!" Then a whistle, "Let her sleep, she needs it." Beth barked again and ran off, I sat up throwing my legs over the bed. I followed the sound of Beth's paws, to the kitchen where Hunter was giving her food. He looked up at me, "I'm sorry did she wake you?"

"Yeah but it's fine, don't yell at her." He just looked at Beth and smiled.

"Okay, Beth outside do your laps." Beth jumped up and down then ran out the open door.

"Have you been up?" He nodded,

"Since four." My eyes widened,

"Four?" He smiled and nodded again, he repeated me. "What did you do in that time?"

" I ran and took a quick swim and a shower."

"Oh."  There was a silence and we heard Beth bark once.

"Go back up to your room and peek out the window, I don't know who is here and I'm not expecting company." I did as I was told and when I was going up I heard the front door close. I sat on the floor looking out the corner of the big window. There was five people that had arrived two up front talking to Hunter, a guy and a girl. Three in the back just standing there, one girl and two other guys.  One of the guys looked up to my window like he knew I was there and smiled, I backed away from the window got up and went back down to get a better look. When I got down there and peeked out the door they were gone and Hunter was just standing alone with his hands in his pockets. He turned around and came back to the house, when he opened the door he said, " I have to go on a work trip, will you be okay here watching Beth?"

"What, I mean yeah but now?"

"Yes now I will be back in three days, the sheriff will still be here at night and if anyone shows up during the day go into my closest and behind that really big box is a crawl space go in it." He isn't going to explain why he is leaving either is he? He didn't even pack anything he just left.
