~Before I start writing, I wanted to let you know that I changed a few things (sorry:/). For one, both of Noah's birth parents are alive. Another is that Benson was at the hospital that he was born in. I kept his middle name because I thought it was really cute and just flowed perfectly. Porter is also one of my favorite names. Oh, and also, Olivia grew up with Serena who was loving and influential toward Olivia. Her step-father Garrett, was her biggest inspiration. I really wanted to focus on the concept of family, and not so much about her tumultuous past. I think that is all but if anything else changes, I'll be sure to tell you. "Look Fin, I appreciate the input on this Langberg case. Keep me updated will you? Oh, and make sure Stabler minds his P's and Q's."
"Of course liv. Now stop talking to me. How long until he's here?"
"Any day now Fin."
"Well, I love you baby girl, and remember to call me as soon as he's here. I don't care if I'm right in the middle of interrogating a sick prick-Ok maybe let me finish, but if you do call, and I don't pick up, I'll call you the minute I get out of the room. Remember I get to look at him first, hold him first, and love him first."
"And why is that mister?" Olivia poked fun at her long time colleague.
"Because I want to be his favorite uncle, and only me."
"Your never gonna drop that are you?"
"Nope till the very day I take my last dying breath."
"You know what Fin, if you weren't so likeable and one of the best detectives Cragens ever seen, I'd say you would make a great comedian."
"Gee Liv, I don't know whether to be offended or flattered."
"Take what you can get smart ass."
"Uhhh, hey fin? I need to go. The hospital called. He's here."
"Go get him Liv."
For as long as Olivia knew, she wanted kids. Growing up, her parents really made her want to start a family herself. Her mom was loving and gentle, but could be firm sometimes. Her step- father Garrett, was by far one of her biggest inspirations(other than Ghandi, Oprah, Tina Turner, and of course Neil Diamond. Perhaps this was due to the fact that her parents listened to Tina Turner, and Neil Diamond so often). The only difference, and it was not big at all, was that she had 3 other siblings. Non-biological, but she still loved them like normal blood siblings. She was scared, that her new father, that she only wanted to make happy, wouldn't accept her because she didn't share his blood. But the moment he saw her, he scooped her up, kissed her hair gently, and said "I love you Olivia Margaret Benson no less than I love my 3 other kids." And that said everything and anything she needed to know. She was still very close with her, biological father but they barely talked.
However, those sappy soap operas, and false realities, centered around finding Mr. right-guy, never helped Olivia. After all, who would like to date someone who works sometimes 16 hour days? She even got sick of herself. She did however, have success in high school. She dated a few guys, but her longest relationship, turned out to be a mistake. She would later find out, that Maverick(her boyfriend) cheated on her with several other girls during the course of their seemingly normal relationship. After that, she gave up on love and decided that she better find something else to occupy her time.
She tried online dating and that failed big time. Turns out they are only after her looks. I mean, she was gorgeous. Her mom, a beautiful and loving mom with straight brown hair, and her father a tall lengthy man, who had blonde hair.
Olivia stood about 5'11. She had beautiful golden honey locks, that could pull off any hairstyle. She had brown eyes and olive skin. Given her height, she exceled in pretty much any sport she was put in. She was in everything from, soccer, dance, volleyball, track and field, cross country, softball, gymnastics, and even cheerleading.
Her last attempt at finding love, was through a Christian dating service. She never really considered herself to be a religious person, but her parents took her to church every Sunday.
Still feeling like something was missing, she decided to look into adoption, after confiding in her long time best friend, Elliot Stabler about wanting to have children. He must have thought she was stupid or at least she thought because as we all know we go through those magical classes known as sex ed. But instead gently replied: You would make a fantastic mother Olivia.
Obviously, she wasn't stupid because she knew that she would need a male, to make her a mother, or she thought.
She got an idea, or at least remembered, the time her step father asked if he could adopt her. She ended up looking into it. She filled out probably a hundred pieces of paper work that sometimes led to late nights. But no matter the paper work, she knew that it was all worth it. She began getting frustrated because her lawyer never called her back telling her that she was a match. She was about to give up hope, when her lawyer called her to confirm she had a few matches.
After going through, several files, she selected a young couple, whose life unfortunately hit a tough patch, and they could not care for their child. They were expecting a boy in November. She met with the couple and it was finalized.
