A/N- Sorry for being inactive, just needed a break. Sorry this chapter is shorter too! Just couldn't find anything else to add to this chapter without going into a whole other part of the story. Happy reading :)
The girl had now been awake for 3 hours, she was falling in and out of consciousness. When she was awake, they would speak to her like she wasn't there. She was like a house with the lights on but no one inside. Marinette could hear it all though. "How long will she stay like this?" Doctors would ask as they passed, watching the bluenette stare blankly at the television. They would answer with a shrug, no one knew... Marinette didn't even know, but it wasn't her concern. Occasionally the girl would hear her partner, he would call out to her from a distance. He would yell and beg for her to return to him but it was muffled, like a wall was between them. Throughout periods of her time awake, the girl would hum her fathers favorite tune lightly, relieving memories. Vix occasionally would peak in, checking on her patient. If Marinette didn't recover she could get destroyed by the press. When the doctors thought 3 hours was enough they began to surround Marinette, allowing her to gain a bit of attention to the situation.
"We are going to put you back to sleep, Marinette." One cooed, everyone watched her, they hoped she would wake up. To them, she was an experiment. At that moment the girl woke up.
"No!" She yelped, flinching away from the needle. Everyone jumped back in surprise. "I- I need to do something first." The girl begged, watching the needle carefully. Marinette had a feeling that she wasn't going to have a lot of time before the doctors insisted she went back to sleep.
"And what do you need to do, Marinette?" The same nurse asked, moving the needle to her side. Tom had mentioned Marinette's fear of needles.
"I want to write a letter to someone."
Marinette wrote her letter carefully, every word was like an access key to a single tear, allowing each one to roll down her face. When she signed it, she could feel her heart and brain disabling connection to each other. "Please... anyone who visits me. Please ask if they are Chat Noir. If they say yes, give them this l-letter." The girl felt the pinch in her arms moments before she signed the card, she was fighting the sleep.
"I love you, Marinette." Her father cried, holding the hand vacant of the letter.
"I lov-" Darkness engulfed the girl.

When Marinette woke back up in her mothers arms, she couldn't help but let out a whimper. "Dieu merci (thank god)." Sabine smiled, tears escaping her eyes as her uprising lips squinted her eyes. "Are you alright?"
"Yes Maman, just got too cold." The girl reassured her mother. Standing for proof. The words of her mothers had not registered.
"You were mumbling in your sleep. Were you having a nightmare?"
"You could say that. I was on the rooftop and then you said something happened to Adrien." Marinette couldn't tell her mother that she woke up in an alternate universe, but before that there was a different dream. Something had happened to Adrien. Her mother smiled weakly, for it wasn't a dream.
"Marinette hun-" She was interrupted by her daughters sob. "Mari-" the woman followed her daughters eyes, the news stayed running.
"A-Adrien-" collapsing to the floor, Marinette let out a scream. "Adrien..." she whispered, rocking herself. All she could think about was the emerald in his eyes... the pink in his-
"Marinette, please. You're going to go into shock." Her mother was begging, shaking her daughter lightly. The daughter glanced to the television, Nathalie was speaking.
"Turn it up."
"But Marine-"
"I SAID TURN IT UP!" The girl yelled, glaring at her mother. Sabine looked at her daughter: hesitating before nodding and grabbing the remote.
"-I hope that whatever or whomever caused this... incident- is identified. Adrien was special to everyone he knew." Nathalie smiled weakly at the camera. "The Agreste family will not be taking any questioning and you will be reported to the authorities if found interrogating anyone in accusation." Nathalie turned her head a little to the left, she was obviously relaying messages directly from Gabriel. "I hope to see you all at his funeral... later details." The assistants eyes were glossy. "We all loved Adrien, I just hope Paris can move on." The woman smiled, then turned and exited the stage. Through teary eyes, Marinette watched Nathalie's shoulders shake as her figure got smaller. Snatching the remote from her mother, Marinette turned off the television- escaping to her room.
"I'm assuming you knew about Adrien too." The blunette groaned, glaring at her kwami. Marinette was furious, she was sad, but most of all... Marinette was heartbroken.
"I'm sorry Marinette, I-"
"Don't want to hear it." The girl cut her off, escaping to her bed. This entire time she was reminding herself that she still had her friends, that things at school would remain mostly normal. Now, whenever the girl tried to tell herself that she shuttered, thinking about the darkness that faded the school before Adrien arrived.
Tikki sighed as she escaped to where Plagg's ring sat, she couldn't put the stress onto her holder yet but soon Hawk Moth would attack and she would have no choice. Everyone would soon know about Chat Noir's disappearance.
