Chapter 5: The Woods and the Spider

Y/N Pov: Tonight I awoke to Chris screaming. I honestly was scared, so I quickly grabbed my equipment and rushed outside.

Chris: "Welcome campers. Today is a hunt, for keys. Along this map, there are the three spots with your keys: The Spooky tree, The Graveyard, and the final area, the Mine."

B: (Points at spider)

Chris: "Oh yeah... There will be a spider hunting you down. Anyways, once you have your keys, rush out the door. You must get as many members through the exit in as short of a time. Once your first group of campers come out, nobody else can go. Every camper lost is a 1 minute penalty. Good luck and GO!"

The whole team rushed out, and while we went along we began to plan.

Scott: "Where will we head first?"

B: (Points at a tree)

Dawn: "The tree?"

B nodded, and we headed there first. Once we got there, we noticed some spray paint. We guessed this was to show we didn't just barge through the door and we got our key. Inside, I noticed a large eyeball.

"We have to get past that???"

Scott: "It appears so. Y/N, go do it.

Dawn: "Why?"

Scott: "Because he's the only expendable one here. Now go."

Scott pushed me forward, and I barely dodged the first tentacle. Meanwhile, I heard Dawn protesting behind me. I didn't have much time to care though. I ducked the 2nd tentacle, jumped the 3rd one and got behind the eye. There, I found our key. I quickly rushed out, and almost made it out unscathed when one of the tentacles grabbed me and pulled me back. I saw the tree trunk, and started panicking before I made contact. Then I was out cold.

Dawn Pov: I was just finished with arguing with Scott when I noticed the tree monster, pulling Y/N back and hitting him against the tree trunk. I rushed over to him, while B began looking for Lightning.

Scott: "Is he out cold?"

"Appears so. Chris wouldn't let him die... Right?"

Scott: "Well, we have to leave him. Right now, he's dead weight."

"Are you crazy?!?! We can't just leave him here. If you don't want to take him, I will!"

Scott: "Ok you two lovebirds. Now, if you really want to bring him, we have to go. Now."

"That's the most reasonable thing you've said all day."

We went over to the graveyard next. B helped me carry Y/N, and when we arrived, I noticed him beginning to wake up, thankfully...

Y/N Pov: My eyes shot open as I looked around. Nearby, I could see Dawn a bit concerned, and Scott and B looking for clues.

Dawn: "Ohmygod I'm so glad you're ok!"

"Yeah, it's good to see you too. Anyways, what's happening with the challenge-"

I tried getting up, but ending up slipping back.

"I... Think I'm gonna rest for a bit.

Dawn: "Ok. I'll tell you when we head for the mine."

I kept a watch on everything going on. I saw Dawn and Scott looking for clues, but i couldn't see B anywhere.

After a few minutes, I felt well enough to sit up. About a minute after that, I began to walk, albeit slowly.

Dawn: "Alright, let's go to the mines!"

Our group of three made it to the mines, and cautiously went inside. We adventured until we noticed a large cavern, with a large web and all the other contestants.

Dawn: "Wow..."

"It is kinda beautiful, but now we have to go... Wait, where's Scott?"

We looked around for a second, but didn't notice Scott anywhere. We began planning to make our run for it, when Dawn appeared to get pushed into the open cavern.

"Dawn!"

The spider ended up jumping down, and was approaching Dawn who, although seemingly well versed in acrobatics, had rolled her ankle from the fall. I looked around for something, and found a stick. I quickly raced out there, and just before the spider could reach Dawn, I was able to push it back slightly with the stick.

"Alright Spider. You're gonna let me and Dawn go, ok?"

The spider ended up just charging me. I parried the first two attacks, but got hit in the stomach by the third, and knocked to the side by the fourth. The spider then pushed me back, and webbed Dawn. However, before it could carry Dawn up to the web, I hit it's ankle.

The hit caused it to lose balance, and Dawn fell down right next to me. I quickly grabbed her bridal style and carried her out, using the keys on the door and barely getting out ahead of the Spider. Once down, I noticed that the maggots hadn't arrived yet, and I began untying Dawn.

The Maggots arrived, but it was only Mike and Cameron left. Since we got there first, our team won!

We later learned that chatty Staci was eliminated, but that was not until morning, as I clocked in for the night almost immediately
