Chapter 14 – WHY?

It has been exactly 72 hours since Holly was taken. I haven’t been able to eat or sleep. Mum has been on edge an Tyler hasn’t left my sight since.

The police had been called, they searched the house high and low for any clues, but they found nothing. They had assured us that they will do their very best to catch Gabe, but I don’t think that will be as easy as we think.

Mum didn’t force me to go back to school, and neither did Ty’s parents. There is no way in hell that I would be able to concentrate knowing that monster has my little sister. The police are constantly coming back to our house to investigate further, ensuring that they hadn’t missed anything important.

“Baby, lets head upstairs. Get some rest” Ty whispered to me, as I sat staring at the tv, not even registering what has happening.

I shook my head no, indicating that I did not want to sleep.

“Baby please” he begged, lightly grabbing my chin, making our eyes meet.

“You need to sleep Amber, you're so pale” he urged on, his eyes swimming with worry.

I sighed, getting lost in those beautiful eyes. Nodding, I stood up offering him my hand. A grin spread across his face. He grabbed my hand and led me upstairs into my room.

Once in my room, we went straight to my bed and cuddled up under the covers. I placed my head on  Ty’s chest as he wrapped an arm around me.

“Ty?” I whispered, fisting his t shirt.

“Yes?” he whispered back.

“They are going to find her, right?” I said, tears slowly leaking down my cheeks.

“Of course they will baby. I promise you” he said, confidence dripping in his voice.

I wiped my tears away, and nodded.

“Night Ty”

“Night Bambi”

“Gabe Blake, father of two. Is the believed kidnapper of his youngest daughter Holly Blake, after an argument with the toddlers mother. Police have released a report, stating that Gabe Blake, has abused his eldest daughter Amber Blake for over two years”

“Miss Blake had told police that she was too afraid of the consequences behind the assault, which is why no formal report was made. She had also told police that an act of violence in her early years resulted with a coma and memory loss”

“Holly Blake is still missing. No further police reports have been released. It has now been 120 hours, five days, since the toddler has been missing.”

“We urge that if you do see this man, do not approach him alone. He has been deemed as violent and abusive. Police urge that if you think you have seen this man, that you immediately contact them. No matter whether you are unsure, it is better to be safe than sorry”

And that’s when I finally broke down. The fact that Holly is still out there, alone with that monster for nearly five days.

FIVE DAYS!

I sank down onto the lounge room floor, my heart pouring out for her. My breathing ragged and my tears coming out stronger.

I cannot believe this happened. After all these years of protecting her, taking blows for her. The one day I let my guard down, and let my hair hand loose she is gone.

I don’t understand how mom let him. How she didn’t call the police sooner. I understand she was in shock, but…

ARGH!
