Chapter 4: Snow Training

I'll try to make today a double update since you guys waited so long, and in the next chapter we're going to get more character development. :)

Freya POV

It had been a little more than of year since I've started training, since then I've made a few friends. Ymir hasn't been close with anyone but Krista, and it seems Ymir is infatuated with her. I've become closest with Mikasa, Sasha, and Annie. The first few months Mikasa seemed very skeptical of me but soon enough we became friends. Annie and I got pretty close too. Surprisingly.

Flashback 5 Months Ago

We were at the dining hall for breakfast, I was very tired. I saw Ymir and Krista sitting next to each other so I sat on the opposite side to them. Luckily when they're together they don't talk to me much, and I wasn't in the mood.

As I was eating some tasteless bread I felt someone sit next to me. I looked up to see a deadpanned face, with blonde tied up hair. 

Annie. 

I wonder why she's here? To make fun of me?

"Hey." Annie said

"Oh, hi." I replied

There was silence for a moment.

Annie started saying, "I don't really like talking to people or making friends but you seem interesting..."

I was surprised Annie would even spare me a glance, let alone talk to me.

"Oh um, thank you." I was very flustered since she was not one to talk much, "I think you're cool too."
I wasn't really sure what I was saying, I'd never been complimented like that before.

"You know Freya..." Annie started saying, "We're the same."

"What does that supposed to mean?"

"Whatever... but even if you are good at most things your fighting stance could use some work." Annie bluntly said.

"Oh. Well, if you watch me fight you might as well teach me a thing or two."

We talked a little more that day and we got along very well. We became really good friends, whenever I would sit with Sasha or Ymir and Historia she would only talk to make and no one else.

The only other people I saw Annie close to were Bertholdt and Reiner, which even though I haven't known them long since we've only been cadets for less than a year they've always been a little sketchy.

I was pretty surprised how pleasant and fun it was to talk to Annie.

From then on we'd usually talk at dinner and when we had to do hand-to-hand combat we both were already good so we just sometimes would walk around while everyone else fought make sure to not get caught by Shadis.

Eren, Armin, and me were the only ones she seemed to be genuine to. After a few months we had become better friends than I had with Sasha, although sometimes she did seem quite off.

End of flashback

Today we were going to start the snow training, I was hoping to get in a group with Mikasa or Annie since we're all almost on the same level of strength. But instead I got paired up with Ymir, Krista, Daz, Thomas, and myself. Not the best group but I think I can work with it.
