"How did the two of you knew each other?" I asked the two of them.
My mom looked at me for a moment before returning her gaze to Akashi. "Eri, can you step inside? I need to talk to Seijuro." she ordered.
I nodded hesistantly and stared at Akashi suspiciously before stepping inside. "I expect an explanation when you get back." I told my mom who simply nodded.
It took them almost half an hour before my mom came in. She looked stressed for a second before she wiped it off with a small smile. "You really waited, huh?" my mom stated after seeing me stand up as soon as she walked in.
"What was that all about, mom?" I interrogated. "How did you even know that Akashi?"
She ushered me to the couch where we sat as she started her story. "Well, for starters, Seijuro was my best friend's son. That's why I knew him."
"Then how come I didn't know about it?"
Her lips stretched into a sad smile as she looked outside the window. "You were living with your father back then. I don't have you back then so I helped Suiren in raising Seijuro."
"Suiren is Akashi's mom? What is she like?" I asked, suddenly curious as to what kind of parents Akashi had.
Mom suddenly looked sad. "She was extremely beautiful and kind-hearted."
"W-was?"
"She died just after I won custody over you." she continued. "She wanted to meet you but she never had a chance." a tear dropped from my mom's eye which she wiped off quickly.
"What was Akashi like as a kid?" I asked out of curiousity.
A fond smile suddenly appeared on my mom's face. "He was really nice." she started. "That kid was a mommy's boy so he would always stick with his mom. He's always been smart as a kid but he also knew how to have fun."
If what my mother was saying is true, then that must be a big transition. But that seems so uncharacteristic of Akashi to be energetic. The way I see him now is a heartless monster who thinks he knows everything.
"Well, what happened after Akashi's mother died?"
My mother shrughed. "I don't know. I haven't seen Akashi since then. I was too busy raising you and I lost all contact with Seijuro."
"That must be hard for you." I mumbled.
She shrugged and stood up. "That's how life always is, Eri. Sometime you lose someone and you'll gain another. You must be prepared to face everything head on and move on."
"What's with the philosophy?" I joked as I stood up.
She smacked my arm and laughed. "I'm giving you some advice, smart-ass."
"I don't need that right now, mom." I told her. "For now, I'll enjoy my life as long as we're together."
She rolled her eyes and draped an arm around my shoulder. "Now aren't you sappy?" she joked.
"That'll be the last time I'll say that." I warned as I take her arm off of me. "Anyways, what's for dinner?"
She sighed and smiled before pointing a finger at the kitchen door. "Make sure to wash the dishes and get to sleep."
"But I'm tired..." I drawled childishly.
She placed her hands on her sassily and raised an eyebrow at me. "Why are you always tired?"
I stopped walking and slowly turned to her. "Because I'm studying?" it turned to be a question rather than a statement.
"Since when did you had the energy to study?" she asked.
